December Worktrip to Canada
[Saturday 07 – 14 December 2016, posted online on 13 February 2017. Rinse, repeat.]
My work sent me back to Canada, this time during a cold spell in the weather. The last time I was there was in balmy September. (21 images total)

December Outings and Bjarki’s Guitar Recital
[Saturday 03 – 06 December 2016, posted online on 13 February 2017. Slow and steady. I’m told it works.]
December showed up, from nowhere it appeared! The weather was too warm by 5 degrees, and no snow was to be seen for miles. (5 images and 1 video total)

Anna’s, Ylfa’s and Iðunn’s Birthday Party
[Sunday 4 December 2016, posted online on 11 February 2017. I’d like to file a complaint with Time!]
We celebrated Anna’s 13th birthday on “my” side of the family jointly with my brother Nökkvi’s two girls, Ylfa and Iðunn. We also did this last year (2015), the year before that (2014), there was a double birthday in 2013.
The whole thing went pretty well, and it’s hard to believe our “little girl” is rapidly approaching adulthood! (20 images total)
November Snapshots
[Photos from 05 – 25 November 2016, posted online on 25 January 2017. Very wet day in downtown Reykjavik.]
Finnur took off for a worktrip to California on 31 October, and returned home on 13 November. Meanwhile I tried to keep all the balls in the air by myself, which mostly means long days, and not a lot of battery-charging time.
A few days after Finnur arrived, all the screws and the plate from my ankle breakage were removed. Recovery kept me out of work for almost a week, but it was a lot less traumatic than the original injury.
Thus, only a few photos got taken over most of November, here are some of them. (28 images total)

Autumn School Break Trip to England
[Photos from 26-31 October 2016, posted online 10 January 2017. Upcoming worktrip is going to kill these updates for a while.]
For this year’s autumn school break (no school Thursday and Friday), we decided to hop on over to England to visit Gunnar granddad, and his gang, as it had been a while.
To kill two birds with one stone, Finnur left the weekend before so he could get a full work-week at Google in London (while staying at dad’s), and we then joined Finnur there late on Wednesday. We hung out for a few days, and then all of us flew back on the Sunday.
(Due to crazy scheduling issues, Finnur slept at home for one night, and then left for California the next day, for two weeks. Eek!) (39 images total)

October Snapshots
[Photos from 03-25 October 2016, posted online 10 January 2017. Emma got an ear infection yesterday. Feeling better now.]
October has a tendency to pass in snapshots. Not a whole lot of stuff happens that warrants the “big camera”, so this is mostly just phone stuff of “life as usual”. (26 images total)

Autumn Colors at Laugarvatn
[Photos from 01-02 October 2016, posted online 8 January 2017. Whoa, a new month!]
We spent a weekend at the Laugarvatn summer house with Ragnar and Agnes, and their four kids in calm weather.
The kiddos mostly hung out inside some computer world or another, but the mothers did manage to wrangle them outside for a short walk, while the men were out procuring food, as the weather was lovely.
Once we arrived in town on the Sunday, we attended Fannar’s 6th birthday, but only a couple of photos got taken… (36 images total)

Northern Lights
[Photos from 28 September 2016, posted shortly after midnight. UPDATED ON 8 JANUARY 2017 (2 photos added).]
So, the northern lights have been going strong this past week, and tonight was forecasted to have a good show. When something showed up, Anna and I hiked up to the Buddha stupa up on the hill, and hung out there for a while.
Of course, the biggest show came on practically on top of us as we were walking there (zero chance of photographing it) but it was probably the pretties that I’ve seen in the city, lights falling down on top of us.
A couple of arches went by as we hung up on the hill, and a few photos were taken. Here’s an animated gif of one of the passes, not processed otherwise.
Edinburgh Day #3
[Photos from 25 September 2016, posted online 7 January 2017. THREE posts in one day?! Nooooo waaaaay!!!]
Our flight left that afternoon, so we checked out of the hotel, walked to town to eat what was supposed to be a late breakfast but turned into lunch, because the place we wanted to visit was closed.
We then walked a little ways to Dean Village, that is a quaint little peaceful spot. We walked around there for a bit, before ending up at the hotel lounge as the plane was delayed a bit, and then our couples vacation was over! (25 images total)
Edinburgh Day #2
[Photos from 24 September 2016, posted online 7 January 2017. Two posts in one day? No way!]
On the Saturday we walked around downtown some more, did some more shopping, then ventured up to the castle hill, but didn’t stay there very long. In the evening we took a taxi to an opulent restaurant in an old manor. It was delightful! (47 images total)
