Anna Sólrún turned TEN YEARS OLD today!! As usual we went to Finnur’s parents for their big Christmas Day feast/whist playing, and ended by singing for Anna as she blew out her candles (for the third time this birthday season). I don’t have the energy to put all the images up online yet, so hereRead more

This Christmas Eve, we were invited to Finnur’s parents’ house for dinner, and opening presents.
First though we had to survive the day itself, which we did by letting the kids watch TV all day. 🙂 (43 images total)

Paradoxically, our Day-Before-Christmas is really 23 December, because our Christmas is on Christmas Eve. I guess somebody got the translation wrong? (10 images total)
Time is flyyyyyying as usual, and Emma’s all of a sudden 10 months old!! (6 images total)
We again decided to host Anna’s class birthday party at a local ice skating rink (see 8th and 9th year skating parties).
This time we joined forces with another family, who’s girl also has a December birthday. This again worked out really well, in part because we (the two moms) both remembered to bring stuff the other had forgotten! So yes, I’m totally sold on this double-birthday concept! 🙂
Thankfully, Finnur’s parents could babysit Emma, so I only had Anna and Bjarki with me at the skating rink, and let me tell you, keeping track of two is easy! 😉
We arrived pretty late in the day (4 pm) and they’d already refreshed the ice so it was nice and smooth. The only downside was that they closed at 6 pm, so the skating ended pretty abruptly. (11 images total and two videos)
Jóhanna (my brother Nökkvi’s wife) and I, decided to co-host a birthday party for our girls who have birthdays in December.
This turned out brilliantly, a) because they live in student housing and therefore have access to a big party room, and b) it meant less food prep for both of us. In attendance were relatives on my mother’s side, as well as Jóhanna’s family.
Still, we were both up until late in the night the night before, decorating cakes. Here’s my effort: (29 images total)
We try to have granny Ásdís over every week for dinner. And this time I got a few pics of her and Emma. 🙂 (4 images total)
Bjarki spent the night at his grandparents’ house, and they shuttled him to this year’s gymnastics advent meet. (Here is the blog entry from last year’s advent meet.)
Us girls met Bjarki there, and watched him being put through the ropes, so to speak. He did pretty well, considering he’s nothing but hands and legs! 🙂 (14 images total, 1 video link)
