I mentioned in a previous post that we’d given Anna a week to recuperate after taking her arm-splint off, before signing her up for trice-weekly hour-long swim practices with Breiðablik, our local sports club at our local pool. Well, three weeks later, it was time for the first swim meet of the season. It was a two-day meet (Friday and Saturday), but since we planned to leave town that weekend, Anna got signed up for two events on Friday only. They were perhaps somewhat longer swims than she would otherwise have swum, but she survived so I guess it was ok. 🙂
Since this was a pretty big meet, with three sports clubs in attendance, and competitors ranging from 7-20 years old, there were lots of heats, where they tried to match up kids of similar ability and/or age. Also, this was her second swim-meet ever, her first one was last November.

In my ‘ideal world’ I bring out the big camera with the fun 50 mm lens on it every month and take pictures of the kids. In reality, this may happen twice per year. One such instance was late one lovely Sunday. Enjoy the kiddie pics!

This morning, Finnur and I headed to the diagnostic department at the women’s wing of the main hospital for the 20 week ultrasound. We were greeted by a seasoned ultrasound pro, as well as a student, and for the next twenty minutes or so, all major body parts, as well as individual organs were found, assessed, and accounted for. To make a long story short, everything looked fine and we were given the green light.
Of course we left with a few pictures in tow: 🙂

My uncle and his wife went on a childless trip for a few days, and we agreed to entertain their younger cub for a Sunday afternoon to give the other caretakers a bit of a break.
Before our little guest arrived, Anna decided to make coconut-balls (kókoskúlur) from a recipe she got from a friend the day before. (Oh, and during an epically productive day the day before that, Anna got her hair cut short to make combing it easier.)
