Easter 2024
[Photos taken 31 March 2024, posted online 19 August 2024. This might be a week without rain!?! Fittingly, the big kids start school today.]
We arrived back from Sweden in time for a very traditional Easter Sunday. Chocolate eggs were hidden at home, before we headed over to my in-laws for an Easter feast and social whist.

Easter 2023, Spring-Tasks & Hiking
[Photos taken 09 – 14 April 2023, posted online 24 December 2023. Perhaps it’s fitting that one festival is being blogged on another one?]
Easter day was a classic one. The kids got their chocolate eggs at home, and then we headed over to Finnur’s parents’ place for Easter eats, and social whist.

Easter 2022
[Photos taken 17 – 22 April 2022, posted online 10 September 2022. Time has gone on fast forward again.]
After two years of non-standard Easter days, we went right back to tradition: Chocolate egg hunt at home, and late lunch and social whist at Finnur’s parents’ place with most of his family. There were two more public holidays in the following week, for weird reasons, but I’m not complaining!
We managed to complete a few spring-related activities, and kept going to the office! (40-ish images total.)

Country Easter Break
[Photos taken 01-05 April 2021, posted online 26 July 2021. Current domestic regulations stipulate max 200 people per area, so all merchant-holiday-festivals this coming weekend are cancelled. Minimum distance is at 1 m, and people are being asked to mask up again, although, unfortunately, the wording of the mask-rules is muddy.]
House #2 came in surprisingly handy over the Easter break and beyond, as we were all sick and tired of home-home.
Some friends of our asked if they could join us, and arrived late the day they cleared quarantine as a kid at their kid’s school had been diagnosed with covid-19 the week before. We chilled, baked, played games, walked, ate, and chilled some more. (55-ish images total)

Easter Day 2020
[Photos taken 12 – 13 April 2020, posted online 04 October 2020. Covid-19 refuses to go away, so restrictions are being tightened tomorrow: max 20 people in a space, 1 m minimum distance, gyms, pubs etc shut down.]
Finnur’s parents have always hosted an Easter Day feast, but this year they spent the day in self-isolation. We therefore spent the day at home.
To lighten the mood, Finnur made an egg treasure-hunt for the kids, and then he hosted a social-whist tournament of sorts online for his side of the family. The day ended with us overdosed on chocolates, and stuffed after a fancy meal (40-ish images total)

Easter Remains, Hair-Cuts & Spring Growth
[Photos from 22 April – 30 April 2019, posted online 13 October 2019. October seems to be speeding along faster than September did. Time is weird.]
The kids got their Icelandic chocolate Easter Eggs very shortly after we arrived home from the airport, having just returned from the UK.
Life-as-usual returned abruptly the next day, with the added dimension of hair-cuts for the kiddos, a birthday party, and kiddos going outside after dinner to play with the other kids in the street.
My ‘actual’ camera even got to go out to play a bit! (30-ish images total)

UK Easter Break
[Photos from 18 – 22 April 2019, posted online 07 October 2019. Hey, it’s a brand new week!]
Early on a Thursday morning I made my way to Keflavik airport, and flew to London, arriving early enough that I could take the kids to a trampoline park in the afternoon!
The following days, Anna and I went shopping, and the two of us also journeyed to London where we met Pétur & Signý for lunch, and saw Hamilton!
On Easter Day, the kids got huge chocolate eggs, we ate fantastic food, and also took the younger kids on a walk, and to two playgrounds. Anna claimed she was too old for those outings!!
On the Monday after Easter Day, we hugged our hosts goodbye, and flew on home to Iceland, where happily the weather had turned for the better. (80-ish photos total!)

Easter Day 2018
[Photos taken on 01 April 2018, posted on 17 October 2018. We’re now waking up in darkness, and it’s getting dark around dinner time. Sigh.]
Easter 2018 happened to land on April’s Fool’s Day. [Insert inappropriate joke here]. It was an Easter Day “by the book”, as I discovered last year, see HERE, when I cataloged the last 15 years of Easter Day! (61 images total!)

Easter Day 2016
[Photos from Easter Sunday 27 March 2016, posted online 31 March 2016. We just finished all the chocolate.]
Easter Sunday began unusually calmly, as the smaller two kids seemed happy to hang out in computer-land for most of the morning, or until the resident teenager woke up around 10 am. The kids then hid our eggs, we hid their eggs, and chocolate bunnies, and then we all overdosed on chocolate.
Around lunchtime we went to Finnur’s parents’ place to eat good food, enjoy good company, and play social whist. Bjarki participated in the whist for the first time, and handled it well, although he joined his grandparents near the bottom of the final score pile. Finnur was victorious though, just like last Easter!
Here, have some photos (33 images total) or if that’s not enough, HERE ARE ALL OF THEM.
