Easter day was a classic one. The kids got their chocolate eggs at home, and then we headed over to Finnur’s parents’ place for Easter eats, and social whist.

Easter Sunday 09 April 2023

Siblings with their eggs.
Emma waiting semi-patiently for her egg-treasure-hunt to begin.
Reading the next clue…
The whole game. The older ones opted to search for theirs, which was non-trivial. Finnur’s an expert egg-hider.
Cuddly sisters.
Egg smashing in progress.
The kids each got a saying, and I got the same as Emma. Emma: Þegar ein aldan rís er önnur vís (When one wave rises, another is likely to follow.). Bjarki: Þar grær gras sem girt er um (Grass grows where a fence surrounds.). Anna: Ekki leikur veröldin eins við alla (The world does not play equally with everybody.)
Next up: Finnur’s parents’ place.
Tables added to fit everybody!
Easter decorations were up.
The master and the student in the kitchen.
Yellow theme.
Size 1 eggs. They also have sayings inside!
Easter lamb, as per tradition.
The not-so-secret sauce ingredient.
Canned veggies are staples.
More birdies!
Wind picking up.
Rubik’s cubed cousins.
Our hosts.
Our old US eggs being “hidden” in the living room, for the “unconfirmed” kids to find.
Social-whist time!
Announcing the results!
Our own Bjarki was the big-time-loser, but he got a prize!
The west-town siblings were victorious this time around!
Proof I was there!
Emma happy at the end of the day!

Monday 10 April (Annar í páskum)

The Monday following Easter Sunday is a public holiday in Iceland. I started the day at a cafe to get my bearings.
Emma had requested lights inside her little storage cubby in the art corner under the stairs. They made seeing what was there much easier.
Emma playing with slime, while waiting for me to be done.
It was clearly spring time! Prime time to build Ikea furniture!
A small windbreaker installed. That corner is still “unresolved”.
Apparently I was bursting with energy, because I also went out on a jog?!

Tuesday 11 April 2023

I did two years of being on the parental association committee at school. That evening we got a fantastic speaker in, and great parental attendance.
Bjarki and I ended the evening hanging out at the ER, as he’d gotten his nose headbanged at parkour practice. A kind nurse came an talked to us an hour into the wait, letting us know that nothing would be done until the swelling had gone down, and to make an appointment in 7-10 days for an evaluation. The evaluation came back as ‘he fine’, aka he got lucky.

Rolling and stretching post-lifting.

Thursday 13 April 2023

Unexpectedly frozen morning, and I’d turned the pre-thaw off. Big mistake!
That afternoon the hiking group assembled a hop and a skip away from the capital area.
Fancy rock colors.
Fun area.
Off we went.
It was toasty!
Quick stop before heading up.
Going up!
More up!
On top! It wasn’t very tall, but it gave a good view of all the lava fields, and lava “spines” in the area.
Drizzle on the way down.
Sun setting around 9 pm.

Friday 14 April 2023

The medical offices with the most amazing view in town.
Post-lifting.
The view out of the bedroom window at 9:30 pm.
The view at 11:30 pm. Perhaps the last northern lights of the season?
