Health? What health?!!
It’s the day before Christmas and Bjarki’s been asleep since 10 am (it’s now almost 3 pm) with a fever of 39.3°C (102.7°F). It seems to be a plain old virus because he isn’t complaining of any particular pains, he’s just out cold (or hot). I’m hoping all this sleeping means he’ll be right as rain tomorrow… because we’ll be opening presents tomorrow night!
Meanwhile, I noticed couple of rash-areas on my body yesterday, but didn’t really think much of it. This morning a new area of rashes came into fruition, and I started thinking that this might be my first ever allergic reaction to the penicillin I’ve been taking since Monday. So I trundled off to the off-hours doctors office early this morning, luckily arriving early enough to be second in line before they opened.
The doctor could neither deny nor verify that this was indeed an allergic reaction to penicillin, but gave me a prescription anyway for antihistamine, and a list of cremes to apply. It may still get worse before it gets better.
I did take one of the anti-histamine pills after getting home this morning, and it knocked me out for about three hours. (Lucky me that Bjarki was also in sleep-mode!). So now I know not to take them unless I have lots of time to sleep.
In other medical news, I went to the hospital around dinner time on Friday and Saturday for a bit of monitoring because my blood pressure has been acting up. Both times there was no protein in the urine, and the 30 min baby monitoring showed a very active baby with lots of changes in heart-rate so that was all excellent. The only problem seems to be the mother who’s incapable of de-stressing, and is thinking that by now being stressed has become a bad habit. Anybody got good recommendations for de-stressing psychologists?
Both times my blood pressure went from ‘sky-high’ (uhm, 172/106 or 172/103) on arrival to ‘high-but-not-quite-so-terrible’ 140-something over 90-something three measurements in after I’d lounged in the lazy-boy for a while. It doesn’t help that explaining my stupid blood pressure issues to the medical folks also stresses me out, and of course, none of my previous labor-and-delivery history is in the system here, so the first day I went in the nurse was asking me questions about the whole twin-birth drama while taking my blood pressure. She promptly shut up when she realized just what she was doing…
