<\/a>OMG! That’s a lot of chocolate!! \ud83d\ude42 \u00a0It took them a few days to finish all of it…<\/p><\/div>\n
<\/a>Finnur’s parent’s had invited the entire clan for an Easter Feast, and we arrived there shortly after 1 pm.<\/p><\/div>\n

<\/a>Members of Finnur’s family had submitted name-guesses for Emma’s name and here they’re getting ready to see how they scored.<\/p><\/div>\n
<\/a>The scoring sheet. \u00a0Points were given for correct names (one or both, and their order), a correct first letter in either name, the correct number of syllables, and correct origin. \u00a0Two people guessed “\u00d3sk” as a middle name, but only one (Einar) was in attendance, so he won the price.<\/p><\/div>\n

Finnur likes to put together little poems (limerick in this case) and he made this one ‘to’ me, after we’d decided on Emma’s name:<\/p>\n
Sagt er a\u00f0 st\u00falkan s\u00e9 \u00ferj\u00f3sk, which roughly translates to:\u00a0The girl is said to be stubborn, nose made of bone and not cartilage [which is Icelandic euphemism for having a mind of her own], she is like the rest of her kin, did you think you’d escape it? \u00a0May I introduce: Emma \u00d3sk<\/em>. \u00a0(I’m waiting on Finnur to do a proper English one \ud83d\ude42 ).<\/p>\n (The side-story is that the wee-est one has reminded us so strongly of Anna, both in looks<\/a> and mood, that we figured their names should be similar, and ‘Emma’ is structurally sort of like ‘Anna’. \u00a0Also, it shouldn’t come as a surprise to anybody that Anna is stubborn as a mule, just like me and the rest of my female kin, so we figure Emma will probably inherit that lovely character trait.)<\/p>\n After the naming had been completed (and other members of the family been SMS-ed the name), it was time to eat!<\/p>\n Gathering around the table.<\/p><\/div>\n The second table.<\/p><\/div>\n After we had eaten it was plastic-easter-egg-hunt-time!<\/p><\/div>\n Bjarki working on his egg collection. \u00a0(By the way: If you’re reading this Soff\u00eda, then yes, those are your blue baskets. \u00a0Let me know if you want them back!!! )<\/p><\/div>\n Finnur wearing a very fashionable accessory.<\/p><\/div>\n Anna with her basket.<\/p><\/div>\n It helps to be small when climbing underneath tables!<\/p><\/div>\n Einar with \u00de\u00f3rarinn V\u00edkingur’s haul.<\/p><\/div>\n I opened a tiny egg for Emma \u00d3sk, and this was her saying: Nobody can remember all their own words.<\/p><\/div>\n Miss Thunder Thighs. \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n Sisters.<\/p><\/div>\n Steinunn finally<\/em> got to hold Emma! Even though she’s visited us twice already!<\/p><\/div>\n Then it was time to play whist<\/a>. We only had enough people for two tables, and not the usual three. Meanwhile, the kids got parked in front of the tv.<\/p><\/div>\n Emma in more ‘Easter-ish’ clothes.<\/p><\/div>\n Saying hi to grand-dad.<\/p><\/div>\n ‘Where is my milk??!!’ \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n \u00de\u00f3rarinn was the kitchen-master as usual.<\/p><\/div>\n They played 24 rounds, and Anna Margr\u00e9t (friend of the family) was declared the winner, with Hilmir coming in a close second.<\/p><\/div>\n The kids hanging out while the old folks played.<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" [Written 08 April 2013]<\/p>\n This year the wait for Easter was almost as difficult for the kids as the wait for Christmas, because they knew they would each<\/em> be getting two<\/em>\u00a0large Easter chocolate eggs on Easter day, courtesy of my parents. \u00a0Just to be on the safe side, we therefore told them the night before that there would be no eating of Easter chocolate eggs until after 8 am (no waking up at 6 am to eat chocolate!). \u00a0They seemed to get the message because they woke up at the same time as usual, and Finnur took them down to have breakfast, and then hunt for the eggs.<\/p>\n
