What health?!!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the day before Christmas and Bjarki&#8217;s been asleep since 10 am (it&#8217;s now almost 3 pm) with a fever of 39.3\u00b0C (102.7\u00b0F). \u00a0It seems to be a plain old virus because he isn&#8217;t complaining of any particular pains, he&#8217;s just out cold (or hot). \u00a0I&#8217;m hoping all this sleeping means he&#8217;ll be right as rain tomorrow&#8230; because we&#8217;ll be opening presents tomorrow night!<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, I noticed couple of rash-areas on my body yesterday, but didn&#8217;t really think much of it. \u00a0This morning a new area of rashes came into fruition, and I started thinking that this <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencephoto.com\/media\/263536\/view\">might be my first ever allergic reaction to the penicillin<\/a> I&#8217;ve been taking since Monday. \u00a0So I trundled off to <a href=\"http:\/\/laeknavaktin.is\/\">the off-hours doctors office<\/a> early this morning, luckily arriving early enough to be second in line before they opened.<\/p>\n<p>The doctor could neither deny nor verify that this was indeed an allergic reaction to penicillin, but gave me a prescription anyway for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.webmd.com\/allergies\/guide\/antihistamines-for-allergies\">antihistamine<\/a>, and a list of cremes to apply. \u00a0It may still get worse before it gets better.<\/p>\n<p>I did take one of the anti-histamine pills after getting home this morning, and it knocked me out for about three hours. \u00a0(Lucky me that Bjarki was also in sleep-mode!). \u00a0So now I know not to take them unless I have lots of time to sleep.<\/p>\n<p>In other medical news, I went to the hospital around dinner time on Friday and Saturday for a bit of monitoring because my blood pressure has been acting up. \u00a0Both times there was no protein in the urine, and the 30 min baby monitoring showed a very active baby with lots of changes in heart-rate so that was all excellent. \u00a0The only problem seems to be the mother who&#8217;s incapable of de-stressing, and is thinking that by now being stressed has become a bad habit. \u00a0Anybody got good recommendations for de-stressing\u00a0psychologists?<\/p>\n<p>Both times my blood pressure went from &#8216;sky-high&#8217; (uhm, 172\/106 or 172\/103) on arrival to &#8216;high-but-not-quite-so-terrible&#8217; 140-something over 90-something three measurements in after I&#8217;d lounged in the lazy-boy for a while. \u00a0 It doesn&#8217;t help that explaining my stupid blood pressure issues to the medical folks also stresses me out, and of course, none of my previous labor-and-delivery history is in the system here, so the first day I went in the nurse was asking me questions about <a href=\"http:\/\/hrefna.com\/dagbok\/fh2007\/id1007.htm\">the whole twin-birth drama<\/a>\u00a0while taking my blood pressure. \u00a0She promptly shut up when she realized just what she was doing&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s the day before Christmas and Bjarki&#8217;s been asleep since 10 am (it&#8217;s now almost 3 pm) with a fever of 39.3\u00b0C (102.7\u00b0F). \u00a0It seems to be a plain old virus because he isn&#8217;t complaining of any particular pains, he&#8217;s just out cold (or hot). \u00a0I&#8217;m hoping all this sleeping means he&#8217;ll be right as<a class=\"button\" href=\"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/2012\/12\/health-what-health\/\" title=\"Read More\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-7039","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized","post-container col-md-12"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7039","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/2"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=7039"}],"version-history":[{"count":4,"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7039\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":7041,"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/7039\/revisions\/7041"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=7039"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=7039"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=7039"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
