The morning after Bjarki’s birthday party – part two<\/a>, Finnur and I set out for Munchen (Munich to the English)<\/a>\u00a0–\u00a0just the two of us<\/em>! \u00a0It so happened that Finnur had been summoned there on a worktrip that was to last an entire week, so I tagged along with him for the first weekend.<\/p>\n

About to board the plane at Keflavik airport<\/a>. It was very weird not to be on high alert with regards to the young ones – instead I mothered Finnur to pieces until he got totally fed up! \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

Our plane out of Iceland was Keilir<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n

We had a short stop-over in Copenhagen (Denmark) before boarding a (smaller) SAS plane. We boarded right by the cockpit, which was open so I took a quick photo. It was extremely hot in Copenhagen that day, and I was teetering on the brink of emptying out my stomach both when we were driving to the terminal after landing, and again when we drove to take off. Why does the air-conditioning not work properly when planes are on the ground?!?!?<\/p><\/div>\n

We took the S-bahn to the city center, and walked the short distance to our hotel<\/a>. When we showed up we realized Finnur had forgotten to notify them that I’d be staying in his room for the first two nights (out of nine). The hotel staff was initially very worried that the room would be too small for the two of us (but had nothing bigger to offer), but we were fine with a queen sized bed. It took two trips to the lobby to get issued a second set of towels and bed-ware (pillows etc) but all in all it worked out fine.<\/p><\/div>\n

I am now hopelessly addicted to Trip Advisor<\/a> recommendations when it comes to restaurants in new towns, so our first stop was this Wirtshaus Ayingers<\/a>.<\/p><\/div>\n

Sadly, the first dinner wasn’t terribly successful. My food was pretty ok (home-y), but Finnur essentially got a huge piece of deep-fried smoked pork (there were big bones in there though) and a couple of dumplings and a potato. He did not have the presence of mind to order a quick salad to compensate, so he pretty much maxed out his pork tolerance for the next few days.<\/p><\/div>\n

Pretty building opposite the restaurant. \u00a0The street was full of people, and it was actually pretty loud there are the night wore on with everybody’s chatter echoing off the walls.<\/p><\/div>\n

After dinner we took a quick stroll to the town center, which was all of 2-3 minutes away. This is the tower of the town hall<\/a>\u00a0by Marienplatz<\/a>. \u00a0And that was the end of day 1.<\/p><\/div>\n
