[When I showed up at noon at the hospital they had just taken Bjarki Freyr off the ventilator and put him on CPAP. They suspected that the ventilator hose was getting clogged and since they anyway had to remove it they decided to change over to CPAP and see how it goes. CPAP is all about maintaining constant low pressure on the lungs to keep them open, but he does the breathing. It is better on the lungs, but more uncomfortable and much more difficult than the ventilator.<\/p>\n
As expected, Bjarki Freyr wasn’t happy with the treatment, but relaxed after being flipped on his stomach. He held my finger for a while which was very cosy. But when we visited after dinner he had forgotten to breathe several times and I would not be surprised if they put him back on the ventilator tonight or tomorrow. Hopefully he will manage to sleep properly. And yes, he is back on the UV treatment today and is apparently slow to digest his milk.<\/p>\n
Today Anna S\u00f3lr\u00fan went to daycare, but came home without having slept there and was accordingly cranky. She fell asleep exhausted three minutes after dinner. Finnur started working again today and grandma Anna went for a walk around the neighborhood. I took the bus to the hospital and then went home again and took a nap after pumping. Not much energy to do much else, but tomorrow the goal is to go to the hospital and then get a haircut. We’ll see how that goes.<\/i>]<\/p>\n
