It’s so bright now long into the night that the kids keep going to bed later and later. \u00a0We’re pretty sure Anna didn’t fall asleep until 11:30 pm, and since I knew she would tear herself out of bed by 8 am to go watch videos on the computer (8 am is the earliest allowed start-time on the weekends after I caught Anna downstairs at 6:30 am one Saturday morning), I set her clock back by an hour. \u00a0That meant she really woke up shortly before 9 am even though she thought it was close to 8 am. \u00a0And now she will never trust her clock again!<\/p>\n

The late morning was spent clearing the floor of the kids’ bedrooms because they’d become completely overrun with toys in the past couple of weeks. \u00a0Then it was on to cleaning the fridge (yay, the plastic things come off the glass shelves!) while Finnur shoveled like mad to make way for a hot tub in the backyard.<\/p>\n

Finnur doing manly work. That big hole and trench was made mostly by my brother Bjarni, who’s been helping us out with this project. \u00a0The hot-tub will essentially be a huge bathtub, which will have to be filled before every use,. \u00a0This means we don’t have to worry about chemically treating the water, which is a huge plus. \u00a0Yay for very cheap hot water! \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n

To make way for plumbing, a large part of the patio has been ripped out. We will therefore not be celebrating Bjarki’s upcoming birthday until later next month or even in August, depending on when the carpenter and plumber can be done with the project.<\/p><\/div>\n

After working hard, we packed the kids in the car and drove 30 minutes towards the international airport (Keflavik) to visit our good friends Ragnar and Agnes. They already have a hot tub installed, and the kids had a grand time playing in it.<\/p><\/div>\n

It was a cloudless day and the sun shone mercilessly on top of our heads and it was toasty hot because the house itself was shielding us from the cool breeze. The adults claimed all the spots under the sun-brella and left the kids in the sun…<\/p><\/div>\n

… and outfitted them with hats instead. \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n

Finnur was in the same class as Ragnar and Agnes, just not at the same time. Here the two old school-buddies are deep in some discussion.<\/p><\/div>\n
