[Bjarki Freyr is 6 weeks old today, or 32 weeks or minus 8 weeks, all depending on your point of view. The main medical news of the day were that a) they took him off of caffeine, mostly because the cardiologists weren’t thrilled about him being on it, and also because he’s getting pretty good about remembering to breathe, and b) he got on the nasal cannula again (oxygen but no pressure) because his nose was looking pretty bad after all the CPAP. So far he’s hanging in on the cannula and we’ll just have to wait and see how long he makes it this time! His previous cannula stint lasted for about 24 hours.<\/p>\n

I stayed in bed pretty much all morning, right next to the humidifier Sarah insisted on lending me, with a hot pack on my chest. I’m still coughing and not feeling really any better than last Monday, so tomorrow morning I’m going to see a doctor about getting antibiotics. At 2:45pm I made my way to Packard for the refreshments before Sina’s defense. I skipped the talk itself since I would have coughed the entire time, but had a long chat session outside with Sarah and Ana instead.<\/p>\n

This evening Finnur went to hold Bjarki, like he’s done all week. Bjarki is now big enough (about 1730g or 3 lbs 13 ounces) that he doesn’t have to be held on the chest for warmth; instead he was bundled up in a blanked and Finnur could look at him better.
