[In about an hour, Bjarki Freyr will be 9 weeks old, or 35 weeks or minus 5 weeks. This morning I called into the hospital and of course the nurse admitted to trying to wean Bjarki down from 96% oxygen saturation, which is where he hangs out when he’s happy. For some reason that annoyed me to no end, so I resolved to get them to raise his limit to 96% or officially remove him from the research study. <\/p>\n

When I arrived at the hospital (all geared up for a fight) I was very relieved that the doctor agreed without any fuss at all to raise him up. \ud83d\ude42 I’m hoping this will give him a bit of a buffer against the reflux\/pooping-induced desats. I’m just kicking myself for not doing this much much sooner (his favorite number has been 96% since he was born), but I have a hard time disagreeing with doctors whose job description is (partly) to give the impression that they know best. It also didn’t help to be removed from the action for three weeks. Anyway, I hope things start stabilizing now, especially with the new reflux medication.<\/p>\n

The developmental specialist saw him today and recommended a couple of exercises for him to free up his joints since he spends so much of his time bundled up and not moving much. Other than that he was pleased with Bjarki’s progress. In the next few days they’re also planning to start bottle-feeding him a bit in addition to the recreational breast-feeding.<\/p>\n

Not much else going on. Steinunn and Einar spent the day in San Francisco and I cooked lamb for us tonight. Anna was kinda exhausted and kept doing the girly “I can’t do it, I need help” while she was doing a puzzle. That mantra annoys me to no end. Steinunn and Einar leave tomorrow night, we’ll sure miss having them around!<\/i>]<\/p>\n
