[I feel compelled to brag a little bit about my little daughter… Last night was just about the most difficult night so far; Bjarki was starwing but for a good while refused to eat and kept his parents (who both have a bit of a nasty cold) up all night counting the hours until Anna wakes up and rueing every minute of lost sleep. Anna woke up bright and early but surprised me for not needing much convincing to just go play in her room and let her parents sleep a little longer. She took that in stride and entertained herself between 7 and 9, much to her parents relief who got to catch up on some much needed sleep.<\/p>\n
After eating breakfast we were cruel enough to take her in for a flu shot (which is how we reward good behavior in this household) and she was unfazed about the whole thing. After that she had a swim lesson where the teacher mentioned she was probably good enough to move up a level the next time she shows up, and after that we paid a visit to the “horsey store”, which is what she calls Fry’s Electronics, where I had to restrain myself from buying a Nintendo Wii game system, which they were advertising all over the store. \ud83d\ude42 Instead we continued our weekly sandwich-after-swim-lesson ritual. She didn’t put up any fight during the afternoon nap and we slept for much needed (at least as far as I’m concerned) two hours. <\/p>\n
After napping we were “in short Bjarki-supplies” and I had to convince her that a trip to the store was more fun than going to the playground, and after some negotiation she got two minutes in the swing and then we took off for the store. She was on her best behavior in the afternoon as well, very concerned about the welfare of her brother, who has had most of his parents attention recently and didn’t put up any fight during her bedtime routing. I think we couldn’t ask for more. It has been a huge relief to see how well she has adapted to her little brother and is interested in him without showing so much as a hint of jelousy. She seems to think of him as “her little baby”, which is what she calls him. \ud83d\ude42<\/i>]<\/p>\n
