{"id":5107,"date":"2012-02-21T19:23:11","date_gmt":"2012-02-21T19:23:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/?p=5107"},"modified":"2012-03-29T10:33:23","modified_gmt":"2012-03-29T10:33:23","slug":"boom-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/2012\/02\/boom-day\/","title":{"rendered":"Boom-Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m not too familiar with this whole &#8216;leading up to lent&#8217;-thing, but I do know that there are three &#8216;special&#8217; days that precede it: 1) Cream-Puff Monday (aka Bolludagur), 2) Boom-Day (aka Sprengidagur), and 3) Ash Wednesday (aka \u00d6skudagur).<\/p>\n<p>On Boom-Day (&#8216;Explosion-Day&#8217;?, &#8216;Eat-Until-You-Burst-Day&#8217;?&#8230;) it is customary to eat salted meat in a bean-soup with veggies until you burst. \u00a0So that&#8217;s what we did. \u00a0Since it fell on a Tuesday, my mom and Bjarni came over for dinner which was good because Finnur made waaaay to much soup and we were happy to ship the leftovers away with our guests. \u00a0The soup was excellent though, among the best I&#8217;ve ever had. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_5108\" style=\"width: 450px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_4802.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-5108\" class=\"size-full wp-image-5108\" title=\"IMG_4802\" src=\"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_4802.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"440\" height=\"660\" srcset=\"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_4802.jpg 440w, https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/IMG_4802-200x300.jpg 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 440px) 100vw, 440px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-5108\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Bjarni getting some food.  Since it was Fish-Tuesday, we&#39;d also gotten some fish for those that didn&#39;t want too much salt.
