After a couple of days visiting family, Emma and I embarked on a train-journey from Stockholm to Copenhagen. I was feeling romantic, absolutely not in the mood for flying, and wanted to visit Gothenburg on the way. We thus took a late-afternoon high-speed train there, stayed in a train-station hotel overnight, spent a few hours wandering about Gothenburg the following day, before taking a second speedy-ish train to Copenhagen airport. There we picked up a rental car, and drove northwards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our room was nice!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The bathroom was fine.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

It was pretty late-o-clock so we opted to eat at the hotel restaurant, rather than risk walking and not finding any open kitchens.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The food hit the spot!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
We even managed to get dessert, although I vaguely remember the kitchen almost being shut down by then.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We decided to head outside for a tiny bit, and found this massive (fake-leaves) branch in the lobby…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We wandered around the train station shops for a bit before heading back to our room, and collapsing into bed. I tried explaining the whole crown thing and that Sweden<\/a>, Norway and Denmark still have royals, but logic failed me.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

The view from our hotel window was surprising.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The breakfast buffet was nice, but packed with people.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We had a few hours to kill before our train departed, so we stowed the luggage and headed out.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Being on the seaside, there were a few canals here and there, guiding rivers to the ocean.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
First stop: Sephora.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

\"\"<\/a>
A little bit of a w.t.f?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We were getting hungry, so headed to a cafe inside a park. The sign told us the greenhouse (palm-house) was being restored for future generations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

\n

Emma was getting very hungry, and losing patience for her photo-taking mother fast.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We finally found the cafe, and then began the search for the acceptable lunch option.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Feeling rejuvenated, we began making our way back to the hotel\/train station.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We were tempted to visit the Alfons \u00c5berg<\/a> (Einar \u00c1skell<\/a> in Icelandic, Alfie Atkins<\/a> in English) culture-house, but were short on time. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The wind enjoyed playing with Emma’s hair a bit too much in front of public art.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

\"\"<\/a>

Back on a train, this time making our way south along the sea-side. There were no prebooked seats, more of a first come, first get.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Denmark<\/a> visible on the other side of the sea. At one point in time I looked at disembarking here, taking the ferry over to Denmark and picking up a rental car there, but as it turned out, all the rental car shops over there closed super early on Fridays, so that was a no-go. Traveling to Copenhagen airport turned out to take the same amount of time, and had lots of rental car options.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Driving a gas-car for the first time in a while. Sure it had a range of 880 km, but ugh, so slow on the uptake.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We arrived at the Airbnb house at 18:30, and it was just perfect for us.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We drove over the student housing complexes to pick up the newly-arrived-ones.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Dinner time!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

A full table! Three of them were heading to Sweden the following day, so it was like a changing of the guardians!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

I lost count of how many Parma pizzas I ended up consuming during that trip!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

After dinner we returned to the house to chill for a bit, and discovered that the bedding piles all had sweets!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
