I (Hrefna) am in Norway! \u00a0As of today! \u00a0Until Thursday morning! \u00a0Why? \u00a0Because I decided to be adventurous and\u00a0gullible at the same time.<\/p>\n

The backstory is that last May, the managing director of RHnet<\/a>\u00a0(they have an astoundingly bare-bones website) contacted me seeking my assistance with a couple of conferences on networks (the data kind, not the people kind). \u00a0As it happened I was then in bed with pneumonia, so I politely declined.<\/p>\n

Fast forward a few months and the director again came knocking on my door. \u00a0This time he asked me to be on the program committee for next year’s NORDUnet<\/a> conference. \u00a0I was struck with a longing to do something ‘different’ from my usual routine, so I said yes, even though I know little to nothing about networks \u00a0 I figured that it might be good experience and educational at the same time.<\/p>\n

Little did I know though that a few days later I’d get a summons to go to Norway in October, but that’s what happened and here I am!<\/p>\n

It turns out Norway is positively furry with all its tall trees!<\/p><\/div>\n

It's interesting to view how they've chopped down trees in some places, and new ones are growing back.<\/p><\/div>\n

My nice little hotel room. I asked to be away from the trams and ended up on the top floor. \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n

For dinner I followed tripadvisor.com<\/a>‘s advice and ate at Tullin’s Cafe<\/a>. \u00a0I got a nice salad and dessert and it was pretty nice although the place was so crowded it was pretty loud.<\/p>\n

Afterwards the stress of prepping for the trip and\/or Finnur’s bug caught up with me and I went to bed with a massive headache. \u00a0Thank goodness for front desks with headache pills!<\/p>\n
