[Photos taken 12 – 13 August 2023, posted online 31 May 2024. Eruption is still ongoing, but has quieted down a lot from the explosive start, it’s bubbling, as opposed to squirting.<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Finnur mostly stuck in bed with his very bruised foot (warning, photo below), we decided this would be the day of shopping. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

All the offspring needed clothes for winter, so I took them shopping. We began by eating breakfast at our favorite cafe, before sorting the younger two out with some clothes. Then I sent them back to the apartment with their haul, while Anna and myself kept going, having a lot more stamina for the horror that is clothes shopping.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was a lovely day, and it was a luxury to be able to open the windows. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Then we sent Bjarki and Emma off on their own back to the apartment with their new clothes, and Anna and myself continued roaming.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Exciting life, sitting on the floor in a little-used changing room in a basement, waiting for Anna to emerge. We did score a pair of pants for her though (yay!) so it was worth it!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Anna really wanted to visit a second-hand clothes shop, and thankfully there was one close by.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

It was time for the last dinner in Helsinki, so I went on a scouting mission to find a non-fully-booked restaurant that was within walking distance (even for Finnur!), that would satisfy all tastes. I lucked out at the second one, claimed a table, and then told the others where to go.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

A few minutes later, a VERTICAL Finnur appeared with the kiddos.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Looking out one of the windows into the back-alley, that surprisingly had an old mural.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

All packed up, and ready to go to the airport. We’d had a lovely stay!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Finnur decided he was good enough to walk to the tram\/bus station, so off we went.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
We found a bakery\/cafe opposite the tram\/bus station, and had brunch.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

We had a few empty recyclable bottles that we needed to get rid of, and after some research we discovered the bottle recycling centers were in every little shop\/kiosk.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

You get money to spend in the shop you recycle in!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We made it to the airport, and requested the wheelchair we’d ordered for Finnur. It took forever <\/em>for the wheelchair to arrive, so it was good we’d arrived quite early.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
