[Photos taken 06 – 09 February 2023, posted online 07 October 2023. Woke up to a frozen world. It won’t last, but it was a nice glimpse into the future.<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two of our Tenerife travel buddies decided to join us at the very last minute, knowing they couldn’t stay the whole week. We said goodbye to them around lunch time, and then ventured along the beach a bit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The following days were very lounge-y, and then it was also time for us to leave!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday 06 February 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n

It’s amazing how quickly habits form. Our fancy-pants platinum status meant we had access to a smaller breakfast buffet area, with outdoor seating that overlooked the sea. This quickly became “our table”.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Bali beds have roofs, which are excellent for us white-lings from Iceland.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
At noon, one couple departed for the airport (and the newest crappy weather report in Iceland), leaving two couples in the sun. Water-aerobics going strong in the background.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
We’d also considered the hotel next door, but it had been slightly out of budget. We were quite happy where we were!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Speaking of habits forming, this was a restaurant we’d visited on the last trip<\/a>, which wowed with great pasta.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We were super lazy and tried the restaurant opposite the hotel<\/a>, and ended up in a tiny corner, with no backs on one side. We escaped as quickly as we could!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Tuesday 07 February 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n

Such a hard life, clouds at noon! That’s the risk with being there in February.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
The only thing our old hotel had over this one, was the quality of food on the sun decks. Here the most food-like offering was grilled bread with cheese and ham.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
The sun chased away the clouds in the afternoon, and we worked hard at lounging. This is the infinity pool on the roof.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Feeling antsy after all this lounging, I went out jogging again, hoping to reach the lovely La Caleta.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

I would have liked to explore the cove more, but I was out of time, as it was already 7 pm at that point.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Wednesday 08 February 2023<\/h2>\n\n\n

The elevators kept saying “planta”, this helpful sign told us why.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Bali-bedding, again.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Finnur was a brave man, and booked a hair-cut in the hotel salon.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The final sun-set during this trip, the next day we would by flying back home.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

This restaurant was a bit weird, you couldn’t move tables together, so we sat two and two, next to each other.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

I kept ordering the flashiest drinks, but was yet again disappointed by the drink itself. When would I learn?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Our room number, and the platinum armband with we used to open the platinum-specific areas. I thought I’d taken a photo of the endless hallways, but it seems like I only imagined that I’d done so.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Finnur was in charge of packing our bags, so I made myself scarce, by walking along the sea line in the morning. This is our hotel, hiding its size as well as possible. It reaches all the way to the low tower on the far right.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The sand had lots of variations.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>

I found a seemingly inhabited cave, I think there’s a walkway, and a super fancy hotel on top of it.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The upscale shopping center where I’d famously laid myself flat on the ground to take a photo of a big Christmas decoration, only to have the guards come running out, looking for the lady that had seemingly fainted.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
