The other “big” activity that we’d planned while in Colorado, was trying the electric go-carts I’d found while scouring the internet, and it was a lot of fun! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anna and myself then spent the Friday shopping (the others lounged), before we all journeyed back to Iceland on the following day. Thus endeth our two-week long USA trip, and it was deemed a great success!!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 11 August 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

\"\"<\/a>
The day began with me trying out a new cafe, the Cavegirl Coffeehouse<\/a>, very close to home-base. I needed a bit of actual alone time!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
It was nice enough, but the acoustics inside were pretty bad due to the polished concrete floor. Next time I’ll try sitting outside in the shade.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
We loaded up into two cars, and by 2 pm we’d made it to K1 Speed<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Responsible fathers filling out all the paperwork on computer screens.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
We bought 3 drives for the big people, and 3 drives for the shorter ones. Here the girls are going at it. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
They had a lot of cars! The kid cars were slightly less powerful that the big cars, but all were fun to drive! So much better than driving gas-powered go-carts, and getting all the fumes in your face!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Anna did one drive, then decided it was too much for her injured ankle, and observed the rest.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
I’m not a great driver. It also turns out that body-weight matters quite a bit.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Blood sugar was running low after all the excitement, so we scoured the internet for a well-reviewed ice-cream shop on the long drive home, and found one, the Inside Scoop Creamery<\/a>, in Littleton.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
It sat next to Devil’s Cup Coffee<\/a> – and of course – opposite a huge US flag.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
There were lots of interesting ice-cream flavors.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>

Sarah and Augusto have an endless supply of fun games. The girls played this one a lot.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

There was a quick hair-braiding session.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Anna and myself set out to go shopping at the outlet mall again, since Bjarki’d hogged all the clothing attention on the Wednesday, and we’d barely found anything for ourselves.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Options for Finnur, who always buys the same things from the same stores once the old stuff falls apart.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

We shopped for close to five hours, and ended up with close to a whole new wardrobe for Anna. Success!!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Bjarki had blown everyone out of the water with his fast rubics cube solving skills, prompting Sarah to give it a go.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Saturday 13 August 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

I needed to run an errand or two before leaving, and stopped by yet another coffee house, Red Frog Cafe<\/a>, to gather some energy.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
This is just a friendly reminder that a small 12 oz is 350 ml, a medium 16 oz is 470 ml, and a large 20 oz is 590 ml!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>

Anna got wheels again, and we even got to skip ahead of the security line at one point. The terminal was very low on food supplies, but eventually everyone found something to eat.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Sunday 14 August 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

After 7 hours of flying, we saw the coast of Iceland.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

I joined Anna in the special lift-car that takes people that have trouble moving off the plane.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Always happy to see a rainbow!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
The car park service delivered the car in one piece, we drove home, and promptly fell asleep.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Later that afternoon us girls decided to visit the cat cafe<\/a> in downtown Reykjavik, mostly to get out of the house.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
