[Photos taken 08 – 16 June 2022, posted online 22 January 2023. The Big Thaw has turned into The Snowstorm, and there are tumultuous weather-times ahead after six weeks of solid frost, breaking a 100 year old record.<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The second week of June ramped up the activity-pace considerably from the previous week. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

First off was a late-afternoon trip e-bike trip around Me\u00f0alfell<\/a> and Me\u00f0alfellsvatn<\/a>, then I began an info-brain-dump of our upcoming and rather complicated US trip, I kept going to the gym, we had friends over for dinner, Finnur took off for London, I hiked up and down \u00der\u00edhyrningur<\/a>, Anna returned from Mexico, I went on a dinner-and-concert (Passenger<\/a>) date with some friends, Emma started horse-camp, we attended a birthday party, haircuts happened, a new nephew was born, and I met up with fellow EEs from undergrad. All in the space of 9 days!?!?!?!? (90-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki at team-gym<\/a> practice. Due to the dearth of men at his age doing team-gym, they’d been migrated to a mixed-gender team.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

This was also the day where my brain waved a white flag, and demanded to stop having to remember all the details of our upcoming, and quite complicated, trip to the US in August. I sat down and created a slide-deck with all the planning information I had rattling around in my brain. It ended up being 35 slides long, and included stuff like flight-and-seat info, transportation-info, lodging-info, and planned activities.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Way too late, and with almost no acclimatization, I re-planted a few of the summer flowers Anna had been growing inside.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Finnur left early that morning for a work-trip to London, and bumped into my uncle and family at the airport!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

At 10:30, after driving for about two hours, my hiking group found itself by \u00der\u00edhyrningur <\/a>(“Triangle” or “Triple-horns”).<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
The location of the mountain. Vestmannaeyjar (Westman Islands)<\/a> are the islands off the south coast. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The route we hiked, we took the top route first all the way to the far right, which was the true peak.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The hike started with a long steep slope upwards, and we took frequent stops to catch our collective breaths. The weather was amazing!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

High enough to see the Vestmannaeyjar (Westman-Islands) off in the distance.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The mount is shaped a bit like a triangular hammock. We started hiking down into the hammock.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Small vote on whether to go up the other side of the hammock (the third peak), or take the easy way out. The group decided the third peak was the way to go.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The town mowed the grass next to the loaner car we had since our e-Golf was STILL in the shop since November the year before. I decided it would be prudent to get the car washed before the grass permanently glued it self to the car.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
