[Photos taken 01 – 09 March 2022, posted online 18 July 2022. Summer vacation has begun, and I’ve spent the first days painting the living room. Got the wrong white and ugh, lots of wasted work!<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We slowly but surely shook off Covid as the big domestic wave of infections began receding, and all restrictions were lifted. The vaccination campaign was a huge success, as very few people landed in hospital. However, the jury is still out on how Iceland’ll do with regards to long-covid.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We birthdays and our wedding anniversary, cleared away a lot of ice, went to house #2 in adventurous conditions, and I tracked my post-covid progress on the rowing machine at the gym. (30-ish images)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In late February the testing analytics system basically caved under the sheer number of tests that needed analyzing, and official PCR tests were replaced with official antigen tests. Wednesday 02 March 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

Yet another before-8-in-the-morning excavation-and-clearing-of-drains as yet again, the street was flooded with rain & melt-water.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
I went to work a week after my diagnosis. The cafeteria lunch is a great attractor.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Mostly I was there to pack up my things, as we were scheduled to move to a different part of the house.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
This was Ash Wednesday, and Emma went to school as a witch.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
That evening we decided to attack the evil pile of ice. Bjarki was tasked with directing the flow of hot water.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
As the ice got weaker, I went and pick-axed it to pieces. The ice was easily 20-30 cm thick in places.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Finnur was in charge of removing the ice away from the driveway.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Action shot! It only took us a little over an hour, at most an hour and a half.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Thursday 03 March 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

First day at the gym post-covid. The rowing machine really lets you know how you are doing… I barely managed 1500 m, and 2:13 mins\/500 m is about the worst I’ve done in years.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Finnur got us flowers to celebrate 22 years of marriage (!!!!!!) <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
About to go eat dinner at a new restaurant close to us, on the other side of the highway from my workplace.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n
\"\"<\/a>
Can I eat now? The building is only partially finished, and the outside area is quite raw still. The food was good though!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Friday 4 March 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

Work began throwing parties again, this was at the end of the workday.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Finnur & Raggi went up to house #2 with the youngest kids, I took the older kids to sushi train for dinner.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n

Saturday 05 March 2022<\/h3>\n\n\n

More neighbors had cleared their driveways, notice how big the piles of ice are?<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Agnes came to pick me and the older kids up, and we drove to house #2. The last bit, up this hill, turned out to be too icy for their car, a small adventure ensued, but all went well in the end.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
\n

Agnes and myself in the heavy wind and rain, as we walked up the hill on our cramponed (studded) feet to the house. Thankfully, our big car could navigate the hill just fine, so after a bit of ferrying, everything was sorted.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Why do teenage boys not wear tops? Oh, and it snowed overnight!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

The pad-girls. Emma’s ‘duvet’ (‘blankie’) has been with her since she was a baby, but this past year the fabric itself began falling apart, and it is barely in existence any more. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n

Lucky us! It was Agnes’ birthday, so Raggi whipped up an amazing breakfast!<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n
