[Photos taken 28 June – 01 July 2021, posted online 26 September 2021. Elections yesterday, for the first time in Iceland, women hold more than half the seats in parliament.<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki’s long awaited birthday finally appeared and he’s now officially 14 years old, and busy checking ever more boxes on the “stereotypical-teen checklist”.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We again held two parties, one for each family, a few days apart, in between life as usual. (25-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday 28 June 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Earlier that day, Emma had begun attending the half-day “Animals and art” camp where each day they got to cuddle and care for a different animal. After lunch she attended horse camp.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

My family was up first, as were hamburgers and hot-dogs!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
The usual kitchen pandemonium.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

About to valiantly sit through the Happy Birthday song… (Anna made the cake as usual)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Cousins eating cakes and other sweets.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The hot tub was opened up, and a water war broke out. A few kids went home in clothes that needed a new home anyway!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 29 June 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Marveling at the color coordination between my bruised stubbed toe, and the (somewhat old) nail-polish. It put a stop to any jogging attempts for 2-3 weeks.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Dropping Emma off at the Animals and art camp.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I made it to the gym! Bumped into Brother Bjarni as he was about to teach his class.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 01 July 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

As summer vacation became tantalizingly close to happening, I began stopping at a cafe on my way into work (yes, I occasionally began actually going into the office).<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Picking Emma up from camp #1, feeding her, then driving to camp #2.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anna magicked forth another yummy birthday-cake, as this was birthday-party-day #2.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

There were a lot of last-minute cancellations, but we forged ahead anyway, and ate Mexican chicken soup together. Then it was time for cake and ice-cream!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
