I’d been waiting for the weather to be nice enough to warrant a walk to the active volcano eruption, and finally the conditions lined up nicely, weather-and-wind-wise. Bjarki and Anna decided to join me, we ate a fast-food hamburger dinner, and then drove about 40 minutes to the parking lot by the main walking path.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There was no fresh lava flowing, but we enjoyed walking alongside the newly hardened lava, spotting one hole into a red-hot furnace, and had ourselves a small picnic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first two weeks of Emma’s horse riding school came to a close with a “show”, Bjarki departed on a two-night gymnastics trip, home-tidying commenced as birthday-celebrations loomed, and we hosted Finnur’s family (adults only) at house #2. (55-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The traveling trio, about as far as we went into the valley of N\u00e1tthagi. Yes, that cloud rising up to the sky is the volcano itself. We decided against walking up on the ridge to the right, but that will be the next trip, whenever that may happen.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

We moved onwards, there were a number of folks by the edge, taking photos, and poking the rocks.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The fumes were quite ugh. We moved further up the hillside to get a break.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

There are a lot of funky antennas by Grindav\u00edk. I think some of them are for submarine-transmissions.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 24 June 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki about to go on a training trip with his gymnastics club. They drove to a town 30 minutes away that has a new gymnastics hall, and were there for two nights, sleeping on mattresses in some school rooms.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Finnur drove to house #2 to prepare for his family visiting the coming weekend (still had fly-nets to make!) so in a fit of utter laziness us girls ate dinner at Ikea.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The line to get food was endless and kept regenerating!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friday 25 June 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the horse-riding-school for the end-of-course show.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Apparently, decorating the horses is the main thing!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I had a ton of tasks I wanted to complete before joining Finnur and his family at house #2. First up, sorting through and putting away the forever pile of stuff on the far end of the kitchen table. You see, we had a birthday celebration coming up!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Like magic!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
I drilled holes into the garage ceiling to fit in a boxing pillow, as requested by the big kids. (Have they used it? Not really…)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Emma’s art corner got seriously decluttered.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>

It turned out that a bunch of grass seeds had landed where we put the bird feed, in clear sight of the house, so I decided to clear those away before they got their roots settled too deep.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Last up: mowing the lawn, and planting a few flowers, which Emma then watered.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I arrived up to house #2 around 6 pm, and it sure is good we have a large parking area!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The weather was so good (and the biting midget flies hadn’t woken up yet, due to the cold spring) that we decided to eat dinner outside, which has NEVER happened.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
