[Photos taken 12 – 17 February 2021, posted online 18 June 2021. It’s been a rather cold June so far, but thankfully a little wet along with the dryness. Also, Finnur and I have been a couple for twenty-seven years now, eeek!<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

At long last, Emma’s 8th birthday arrived! She requested breakfast in bed with a little bit of chocolate, and I obliged. With Covid-19 momentarily mostly under control, we invited people over and had a proper birthday party (part 1)! Then we moved on to cream-puff-day, eat-till-you-explode-day, and ash-Wednesday-aka-second-Halloween, while preparing for an actual ski trip (with more people!) to the north of Iceland. Friday 12 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Breakfast in bed for the birthday girl! There was a bit of chocolate in the yellow cup. \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

About to head off for school.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Work announced there would be free fancy coffee, and a goodie bag with chocolate in honor of Valentines day. I made sure to show up, but didn’t stay long.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The gym in the basement still very closed.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

With her presents. She was very patient in waiting to open them, as we wanted everybody to be present, and Fridays are busy days.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 13 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

For the first time in weeks, we were expecting visitors. Tidying unearthed all sorts of treasures, like this gift-tag by Emma.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anna also made the dough for these ham-cream-cheese horn-rolls, but I got the honor of actually making them.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

To cut down on mingling between unrelated people, we only hosted Finnur’s side of the family that day. My side was due to come the next day, but Emma came down with a bad stomach ache, so we postponed.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 14 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Emma woke up feeling rather poorly, particularly in her stomach (sugar overdose?), and as the day progressed it became apparent we wouldn’t be hosting party #2 for my side of the family that day. She was heart-broken (nooo presents?!) so she got to open her present from her grandma \u00c1sd\u00eds, which happened to already be in the house. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Anna went on her first “pick-Bjarki-up-from-practice” all by her lonesome self, as she now had a valid driver’s license!!! What. A. Luxury!!!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
The day ended with the customary making of cream-puffs, for cream-puff-day. It’s the only baking task that remains strictly mine! Anna and Finnur then filled them and covered with chocolate.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 16 February 2021<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki went in for a much-needed haircut.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
At home, the Jaguar got replaced by this monster Discovery jeep. No worries, it was only temporary, as the Jaguar (still under warranty) had developed a fault (it’s what you risk by buying first generation cars) that needed parts from abroad. As we were about to depart on a ski trip north, the dealer lent us this monster while the Jaguar was in the shop. It felt like we’d temporarily moved one township over, where huge cars like these are the norm. It felt like driving a tank.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Emma was a peacock for Ash Wednesday, which has morphed into Halloween for all intents and purposes.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I tried my hand at makeup, but will be enlisting Anna next year, as I did not know one does not color eyebrows, even with glitter!
