[Photos taken 04-11 February 2021, posted online 13 June 2021. Covid-19 vaccinations continue apace, every last dosage that arrives is making it into people, and tourism is picking up again. Masks have mostly disappeared. The weather could be nicer, it’s currently pouring with rain.<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With Covid-19 numbers staying very low, crazy things could happen like a trampoline park classroom party, and an actual in-person sewing club! Mixed in were the usual walk-about-s, the shelves dad sent from the UK appeared just in time for Emma’s birthday, the weather was dramatically cold and\/or snowy, and an actual ski trip north loomed! (25-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 04 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The Covid-19 infections had slowed to a trickle as February began. We tried to keep behaving sensibly… <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Emma was one of 10 kids who invited the entire class (it’s about 50 kids) to go crazy jumping at the local trampoline park, followed by pizza and a popsicle. Last year it was decided the standard gift would be kr 500 per kid (about 4 dollars) which meant Emma ended up with about 200 bucks!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friday 05 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki had music theory class, so I went on a walkabout while waiting for him to be done. It was a crisp cool day.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Frozen water layers.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
A river frozen solid, at least on top.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Lazy Hrefna took the kids to Sushi Train yet again, as Finnur had taken off for house #2 where he would spend the weekend with his travel buddies to the Soccer World Cup in Russia.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Not the cheapest way to feed the young, but very effective and stress free as they all love sushi!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 06 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Emma’s drawers were without knobs, so I got out my measuring things, and began drilling.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Knobs installed, yay!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Bjarki and myself ended up spending about an hour waiting in the “youngster” waiting room at the Emergency Room (that room has lazy-boys!), as he’d taken a nasty tumble as his electric scooter slid while taking a turn, his knee was a mess, and he was unwilling to put any weight on his foot. The ER was super busy on this Saturday night, there were at least 4 or 5 kids in line ahead of us, so I began coaxing him to begin checking if his leg could in fact support him, because any doctor that saw him was sure to poke and prod the wound. Slowly but surely his courage grew, and we checked ourselves out a little later.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 07 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The main achievement this Sunday was sorting through and rearranging the big three drawers under the stove top in the kitchen. They had continued collecting containers for a decade, and it had become impossible to find a single thing. I claimed victory at the end of the day!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Monday 08 February 2021<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Out and about, and the days getting longer. This was around 6 pm (17:50).<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Apparently we made it to Costco, again!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A big box arrived in the mail! It came about a week later than initially expected, perhaps because the UK went into serious covid lockdown, and there were simply no (commercial) flights going between Iceland and the UK for many weeks.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The magical box contained the long-awaited shelves for Emma’s room!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Time to move the stuff over to the new unit!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
Emma’s favorite made it on to her home-economics class bag that day.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Ah, the joys of Iceland and the ever changing weather.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

An actual in-person<\/strong> sewing club happened, for the first time in aaaaages! In a fit of foresight during the previous October, one member had suggested we brave fate and go on a ski-trip north during winter-break, and lo and behold, the trip was only a week away! We therefore figured we might as well meet up and plan a bit.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

As a result I dug out our ski-area access cards from the year before when I took the kids skiing. The covid rules for the ski areas were quite strict, and there was much planning for when and how and what to book once the booking site would open.
