{"id":2890,"date":"2010-10-25T21:06:09","date_gmt":"2010-10-25T21:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"\/blog\/?p=2890"},"modified":"2010-10-26T22:13:34","modified_gmt":"2010-10-26T22:13:34","slug":"eyrarbakki","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/hrefna.com\/blog\/2010\/10\/eyrarbakki\/","title":{"rendered":"Eyrarbakki"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today was <a href=\"http:\/\/www.icelandreview.com\/icelandreview\/daily_news\/?cat_id=40764&amp;ew_0_a_id=369435\">&#8216;women take the day off&#8217;-day<\/a>, during which the vast majority of Icelandic women took off from work at 2:25 pm to bring attention to the fact that women get paid some 66% of what men get paid (I&#8217;m assuming this statistic is for the country as a whole), and should therefore be done at work then. \u00a0Some 50 thousand people congregated downtown to protest the salary situation, as well as violence against women, even though the weather decided to suddenly turn super-sucky. \u00a0It should be noted that there are about <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Greater_Reykjav%C3%ADk_Area\">200 thousand people that live in the capital area<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Anyway, the &#8216;day-off&#8217; combined with the fact that Anna is on &#8216;winter vacation&#8217; from school these days, prompted us to go visit Elsa and her kids in their &#8216;summer house&#8217; at <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eyrarbakki\">Eyrarbakki<\/a> after lunch. \u00a0As we left for Eyrarbakki (about 50 min driving distance) the weather got windy and it started snowing!
