[Photos taken 18-31 October 2020, posted online 02 April 2021. Eloped to a cafe in Borgarnes for a bit of peace and quiet.<\/em>]<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Having escaped quarantine, but avoiding cafes still, I kept going out on walks just to escape the house. Anna’s final exams loomed (her school is unusual in that there are 3 semesters, each is 10 weeks long) and she began stress baking. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Halloween snuck up on us, but we did manage to grab a few pumpkins from Costco, and carve them. There was no trick or treating, although one household pinned candy to an outside wall! (70-ish photos)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 18 October 2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Walking, walking…<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

I was there.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

There’s a sculptor’s gallery in that house, and he has permission to spread his works around the field. It sits next to a school.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
This pond took me by surprise the first time I stumbled upon it, as it sits up in a hill.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
The church that sits on the cliff above our house. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a>
The days were getting noticeably shorter, this is at 18:40.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

As covid wave #3 filled the hospitals, authorities implored people to stay put, and not travel in spite of the upcoming school breaks. It was both to avoid accidents and thus an extra load on the hospitals, and to prevent covid spreading around the country.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 20 October 2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Another late lunchtime walk, this time past a school with kids playing.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A river running by the school athletics house. I’m told there’s a whole swimming pool hiding inside.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

An elusive foot path I always have a hard time finding when I come from the wrong direction. While walking a 5.6 magnitude earthquake hit<\/a>, and I didn’t notice a thing.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I took Bjarki shopping for a winter coat. This is the one he wanted, but I deemed not-winter-proof-enough. He still hasn’t quite forgiven me.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A lack of toilet paper pulled me to Costco, where I was thrilled to find pumpkins that didn’t cost an arm and a leg.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Looks like I managed to go out jogging again.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 24 October 2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

My workplace gave us a goodie bag, which included a restaurant gift card, and an exercise band.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The end of this table has been a pile collector since the day we bought it. Finnur had promised to sort through the pile of tools and stuff in the garage, but only if I made a space for him to work, so this pile disappeared like magic!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I took to trying to jog or walk while Emma had her weekly piano lesson, as it’s next to a very lovely valley that a river runs through.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I tried a new path around the hill, that gave a nice view of the lake.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Already rather dark at 18:10, and it had started raining.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
