As April began, the number of daily new cases of Covid finally plateaued, and slowly began decreasing. Meanwhile, we stayed home pretty much all the time (aside from my walks, and Finnur’s runs) and didn’t dare meet up with a single soul, although Emma continued attending school.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Even the music school became remote-only, and the annual spring tests were held through zoom and skype! (35-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday 01 April 2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The music school moved to online-only, and Emma’s spring exam was conducted via a zoom meeting! She did a great job!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Concentrating!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The after-work-home-gym got a visit.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The outside didn’t look very inviting anyway…<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Earlier that morning, Finnur had put together Emma’s food for the day, as the school cafeteria was still closed. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In other news, yours truly got summoned to get Covid tested as a part of the random check to see how widespread it was in the general (asymptomatic) population.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The Icelandic wave #1 trajectory for context. At the beginning of April the wave was juuuust cresting. I still marvel at just how beautifully by-the-book that curve looks.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 02 April 2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki’s daily school photo submission task asked him to find the circumference of the front door. He got a little help from the tallest person around.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The weather had taken a turn for the better, so by 6 pm I went outside for a short walk.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

As the weather improved, the kids began gathering at a nearby hoop and fake-turf field.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I kept going towards the sun, onto the area that will soon become a very large building site.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

That entire area used to be full of horse stables, but they got moved quite a bit further up the hill, and this became one of the most expensive pieces of land in the area.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

That small house in the middle is the only horse stable house left.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I think the plan is to build a 20 or 30 something-storey apartment tower (or two?!) right about where the branches have been dumped.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friday 03 April 2020<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

About to enter the tower where the Covid testing was and is being performed by deCode Genetics<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The testers had been at it for a bit of time, so the process was very smooth. At my appointed time, I first had to wait for one elevator (4 people allowed in at a time), upon exiting the elevator I gave my social id number, was then told to go to room #x where people in protective gear asked me questions, and then stuck a pin veeeery far up my nose. I took this picture once that was done, of the people by the sign in desk.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Then it was Anna’s turn to take her spring music school exam.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
