The bathroom finally became operational (yaaaaay!!!) but upstairs was a disaster area. With Emma’s room being almost totally empty of stuff after the big plumbing fiasco, I got the crazy idea to move her bed to a different wall, and rearrange the whole room. Just to up the stakes, Emma also requested one color for each wall, pretty please.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The only thing that saved this from being a total disaster was being able to take one day off and get a solid block of three full days to figure this out. (40-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday 18 December 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Whoa! A counter-top, and sink!!! Yup, just before the end of the day, a couple of guys arrived from the counter-top company and installed this in what felt like 30 minutes. Now we just needed the plumbers to hook up the sink, and we’d have a fully functioning bathroom!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

The sink felt a lot bigger than it did in the store, which was a good thing.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The tilers had also finished the decorative tile work under the shower (Finnur’s idea).<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
During that evening’s sewing club, we were discussing personal development, and one of us who’s doing a project manager certification pulled out this interesting schematic, which jived nicely with the fixed vs. growth mindset<\/a> I read about some time ago.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 19 December 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The day’s task was to pick out a toilet roll holder and towel rack.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
One of the contractors was meaning to stop by and install these before Christmas, but he ended up being way too busy, so they just went up in the new year.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Making sure it would all fit, and it would, but just barely! It’s conceivable the plumbers arrived that day (or the day after) and hooked up the sink, but I neglected to take a photo.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Sitting in the car after arriving home from a late grocery-store-run, for a bit of quiet time.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friday 20 December 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Coming out for fresh air as the fire alarm system went off. It wasn’t anything serious, but it was a bit cold to be outside for those without a coat.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

That evening I went to the shopping mall, which was open until 11 that evening, and started on the yule-shopping for realz. It went pretty well!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 21 December 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

First business of the day was going to the paint store, and buying a few test-colors from the “Nordic Colors” line for Emma’s room.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anna helped me clear out what remained of stuff in the bedroom.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The girls and the badly treated pink wall. Unfortunately we couldn’t get the painter to finish smoothing the wall, so it ended being a little bit wavy. Ooops.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The hallway outside the bedroom. Sigh.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

All of Emma’s stuff stuffed into Bjarki’s room. Double sigh!!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I’d gotten five colors, for Emma to pick from.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Emma’d asked for four different colors, and in the end she picked the pink that was already on the wall, the yellow, the blue, and the purple. She was very firm in her decision!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the afternoon we attended a birthday at Finnur’s sister’s place.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

After dinner, I used the opportunity to paint over the test splotches with the rest of the test paint.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I also managed to get one coat on the ceiling.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 22 December 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I got an early start to the day, and by 4 pm I’d gotten quite a lot of painting done.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
All walls with at least one coat at 17:30.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Fearing I wouldn’t finished before the end of the day, I recruited Anna onto the painting team. She was a great help!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I think we threw in the paint brushes at 9 or 10 pm that night.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
While I was cleaning up, Anna went ahead and made ginger bread dough, as we were planning to make ginger bread the next day. (That got postponed past yule.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Monday 23 December 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Glue-ing. Nails are overrated. Then the reassembly of the bedroom began!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The girls took care of decorating the tree.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We discovered we were running a bit low on festive globes, so we went and got a few new ones.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I spent the day reassembling Emma’s room. By 9 pm it finally looked ok.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

It will never be this tidy again!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sadly, the same couldn’t be said about the hallway area, but it was at least walk-able. By that time I’d totally run out of tidy-ing gas. Oh well!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
