[Photos taken 01 – 04 July 2019, posted online 15 February 2020. Yesterday saw such high winds that most of the capital area closed down in the morning, and all schools were closed! It’s calmer today.<\/em>] <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We’d made the decision to not travel abroad for our summer vacation for the first time in many years, so this was an unusual July for sure. Horse camp played a big role, with Anna working there, and the other kids attending. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For the first week, the weather was super nice, which meant time spent outdoors. (15-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our summer revolved a lot around this horse camp. Anna worked there through the city-work-school program, and Bjarki and Emma both attended.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\"\"
With a little bit of rain the grass finally began growing again, and I experimented with mowing it with no bag. Turns out it was much quicker, as I didn’t have to stop and empty the bag every five steps (we have a lot of moss), and there’s surprisingly little raking needed.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday 03 July 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Emma kept going to football\/soccer practice after daycare. She discovered she much preferred the fake (smooth) grass to the real bumpy thing!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I ventured out with Bjarki, trying to excite him about going for an evening walk. He balked at walking, but really wanted to work on his skateboarding skills, so we went and picked that up.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
A little up the hill from our house is a perfect spot to practice rolling.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We spotted this cat sitting on a post, and I couldn’t resist photoing him. I turned out to be a fortunate encounter, as we’d run into this cat again later that month. More on that later.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 04 July 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

21:45 is apparently a good time to set out on an evening walk.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

By 10 pm the sun had set, and I could wonder about the lupines that the city had gone to the trouble of cutting that day.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
