We drove my oldest brother to Borgarnes on a windy Wednesday. Borgarnes<\/a> is a small town (pop: 2000-ish) about an hour north of Reykjavik (the capital). \u00a0It was really nice to finally get to see some of the country-side after being stuck in town due to endless stomach bugs, and housing-worries.<\/p>\n

In Borgarnes. Ylfa needed to take a nap, so N\u00f6kkvi, J\u00f3hanna, Anna, anna and I went for a walk around town. It was windy enough that Bjarki would have complained non-stop so we left him behind with Finnur and J\u00f3hanna's brother.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

Our destination was 'Bj\u00f6ssar\u00f3l\u00f3', a playground built by a man called Bj\u00f6ssi.<\/p><\/div>\n

Down there is a Puppet-Museum. You can pay a ridiculous amount of money to take a close look at some lovely puppets. We chose not to.<\/p><\/div>\n

This playground is entirely made from scraps, but has been lovingly maintained over the years.<\/p><\/div>\n

I walked up to the top of the hill next to the playground to see more of the surrounding environment. To the left of the playground are soccer fields, and there's a swimming pool further on.<\/p><\/div>\n

Here are the soccer fields. It was pretty windy up there.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Turning 90 degrees to the left: Like almost all other towns in Iceland, Borgarnes is a coastal town.<\/p><\/div>\n

Another 90 degrees left and I was looking at one of my favorite Icelandic mountains: Hafnarfjall (Port-mountain). One of my childhood memories is driving past this smooth black sandy wall of a mountain and being awed. <\/p><\/div>\n

Anna wasn't all too happy about leaving the playground, so N\u00f6kkvi took her down to the sea to throw some rocks at it.<\/p><\/div>\n

We all had dinner together, then Finnur joined J\u00f3hanna's brother in watching the World Cup semi-finals. After the game was over (Holland won Germany) it was time to head back home.<\/p><\/div>\n
