The kids got their Icelandic chocolate Easter Eggs very shortly after we arrived home from the airport, having just returned from the UK.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Life-as-usual returned abruptly the next day, with the added dimension of hair-cuts for the kiddos, a birthday party, and kiddos going outside after dinner to play with the other kids in the street. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

My ‘actual’ camera even got to go out to play a bit! (30-ish images total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, the whole family got eggs. This is before they were hidden, for the kids to find.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki got: “Sjaldan fellur epli\u00f0 langt fr\u00e1 eikinni.” (Rarely does the apple fall far from the oak.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Emma’s was: “L\u00e9ttara er a\u00f0 lofa en enda (efna).” (It’s easier to promise than to fulfill.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Finnur got: “Vinnan g\u00f6fgar manninn.” (Works makes a man more worthy.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I got: “Hva\u00f0 tungan mei\u00f0ir er torvelt a\u00f0 l\u00e6kna.” (What the tongue hurts is hard to heal.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 23 April 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

A typical Tuesday followed, with everyone back at daycare, school and work. I found this completed questionnaire at Emma’s daycare. Q: How old is your mother? A: Maybe about… I think it’s 24. (Editor’s note, she mixed the numbers up slightly, I was 42 at the time.) Q: What does your mom do best? A: Tidying up and working on her photos in her computer. Q: What do you and mom do together? A: Sometimes we go swimming and sometimes we get ice-cream. Q: Where does your mother work? A: In Marel. Q: What makes your mom happy? A: When I tidy up myself. Q: What makes your mom sad? A: When I don’t tidy up and she has to do it. (Editor’s note #2: Is it obvious this was done right after the great room-clean-up or what?! \ud83d\ude42 )<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I can’t remember why any more, but Emma ended up with two types of braids before going to football practice. From the look of her face I seemed to have lacked negotiating skills that day!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

So happy we have an indoor arena in our township!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
With the increasing daylight, and improved weather (see the green-in-parts grass!) the kids in the street began playing together outside after dinner. This is at 8 pm!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday 24 April 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Waiting for her turn at the hair salon.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Chop, chop time! Emma’s been insisting on keeping her hair long, so it’s was just a tidying-up operation.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

With her post-hair-cut lolly-pop. Now she could see out of her eyes again.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
That evening I took Anna with me to a documentary on autistic Icelandic women (yours truly is pretty sure she’s spectrum-y, just not sure how severely). The documentary is called Seeing the Unseen<\/a>, and the trailer is a bit more intense than the movie itself. The theater was full (of mostly women) and the planned three showings turned into a months-long run at the theater.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I kept on working on Anna’s confirmation photo book, these things take forever!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

A short while later we’d arrived at my oldest brother’s and his family’s somewhat new place for a small birthday party. The festivities began with a hearty soup. \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

At home after work, I discovered that a few leeks were in the process of blooming!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
