The second half of March featured improving weather, a lot more daylight, numerous visits to junior colleges in the area, and Marel’s annual ball.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The school visits took up a lot of time and energy, but they helped Anna to match herself against the various schools to try and help her to choose between them. (30-ish photos total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Daycare pickup began being followed by play-sessions on the play-ground, as the sun was still high in the sky.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Some friends came over for dinner, so the hot-tub saw the light of day again. It’s an excellent baby-sitter and sound-dampener!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Monday 18 March 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

When I arrived at work, a temporary ceiling had appeared, as the floors were being replaced. Apparently, contractors had spent the weekend tearing up the tiles on the floor.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I was impressed!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Later that day I took Anna to visit Borgarholtssk\u00f3li <\/a><\/a>where my brother N\u00f6kkvi teaches. He told be he was repsonsible for that Thor’s hammer that was on display. (Unfortunately, N\u00f6kkvi couldn’t be there for the open house himself.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday 19 March 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The open-house schedule was busy, and the schools weren’t really organized according to location, so we there was very hard to make it to all of them.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

That day we visited the Kvennask\u00f3linn<\/a>. It turned out to be split between three buildings downtown, so there was quite a bit of walking involved.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We got to see the principal’s office, and they had on display some old objects, as this is one of the ‘old’ schools. (It began in 1874 as a women’s only school, the name translates to Reykjavik Women’s Gymnasium<\/a>.)<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The next day we visited Menntask\u00f3linn \u00ed Hamrahl\u00ed\u00f0<\/a>, which quite a few family members have attended, such as my two oldest brothers. We found them both hanging on the walls!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We also visited the very popular (read: here be money) Versl\u00f3<\/a>. Here we are on the tour around the school.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Yet another daycare questionnaire, this time about ‘dad’. Q: How old is your dad? A: 4 and something. Q: What’s your dad best at? A: Good at working on things. Q: What do you do with dad? A: We sometimes go on car rides together. Q: Where does your dad work? A: At Google. Q: What makes your dad happy? A: When I give him a hug. Q: What makes your dad sad? The last visit for now was to Menntask\u00f3linn \u00ed Reykjav\u00edk<\/a>, mine and Finnur’s old school.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Apparently, my coworker imports these rock-like chocolates for one of the geology teachers at the school to give out during the open house. \ud83d\ude42<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
