Too quickly, our last day in Florida dawned. We had to clear the airbnb house by 10 am, but happily didn’t have to actually clean it. Ever since The-Very-Sweaty-Very-Stressful-Exit-Cleaning-of-the-Airbnb-house-in-Lyon<\/a>, I’ve tried to rent tidy-only properties. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We piled all our stuff into the two cars, and then went to do a bit of shopping as we moved in hops closer to the airport. Our flight didn’t leave until close to dinner-time, so we had plenty of time to kill. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

We arrived in Iceland on the Sunday morning, and spent the day recovering, and making cream-puffs! (40-ish photos total)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 02 March 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Finnur by the packed car outside our temporary home at 10 am.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The stuff that never makes it to the fancy brochures. The roof of the pool enclosure had a bunch of nature on top of it. But I did really appreciate the back of the house facing a small forested area. It felt relaxing, even though the next houses were only a step away.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Of course we discovered this fancy night-stand power station as we were leaving. The US wall sockets are unbelievably useless, as they barely manage to hang on to the plugs. This would have come in handy!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
These two have united over their love of screens with moving pictures.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Trying to keep things organized, so we wouldn’t pack clothes that were supposed to be worn later.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"

I ended up photographing the house so that I had evidence on how we’d left it. I also filed a complaint that the pots and pans were on their last legs. I still don’t understand why Teflon is considered a good idea.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

All the stuff we left behind.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
These two are best kept out of the way when we’re packing. One day though…<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

10 am is five minutes away. Time to put shoes on!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Like most other rental properties in the area, this one was managed by a travel company.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Some things seemed to have gotten lost in translation though. What do you do with toilet paper instead of putting it into the toilet?!?<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Ok, we wiped down the tables, because we’re decent people.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Goodbye comfy couches.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Goodbye garage-game-room that we hardly used.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Bjarki was happy to FINALLY get a juice carton. I’m not a big fan of juices.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Starbucks gets kudos for these small cakes on a stick. They’re cute enough the kids want them, but not so big that the parents feel crazy guilty.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Teenager interrupted in scrolling through pinterest, probably. <\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I’m always a sucker for bookstores, so I suggested we visit one on the way to the airport. We ended up buying a few books, and then had to figure out how to pack them so we did’t go over our limit!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We have read the Harold and the Purple Crayon<\/a> So. Many. Times, but I’d never seen these other Harold stories. I didn’t want to buy the huge celebratory book though, as we were too short on space and weight, so I took a photo instead.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I wish Iceland could support big bookstores like these.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Next up, a late lunch at Five Guys, the hamburger place. Adda approved!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Airport coming up.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

We returned the car without issues, and then we walked.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Escalators are always fun.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
After putting on our Iceland-clothes, and checking in, we had to take a train to our terminal. Bjarki was looking Oh. So. Cool!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Anna resigned to her mother being crazy with the camera. The view outside the train was beautiful.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The waiting area was loud, and the Starbuck’s line I got stuck in, took forever.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
At long last, our airplane was in sight.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"

Emma had her fancy jacket on, and when the setting sun hit it just so, her area erupted in a huge light-show!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In the air shortly after 6 pm. Goodbye Florida!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 03 March 2019<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Many, many hours later, we’d made it to Iceland.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I don’t often see the trace of the plane on the ground in these systems, but I thought this was pretty cool!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
As luck would have it, the following day was cream-puff day, so off I went to the store to buy ingredients.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The two religions, gas and god, all in one picture. Oh, and a pretty sunset!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
