For our summer vacation this year, we traveled to Colorado, to stay with our good friends Sarah and Augusto. They kindly housed us for two weeks, which was great! (25-ish images)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Wednesday 11 July 2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Four travelers at Keflavik airport. The flights to the US always leave around 5 pm, which works pretty well.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

Earlier in the day, Bjarki tired out summer clothes that he got for his birthday. They met with his approval!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I ventured downtown for lunch to charge my batteries at a cafe. The weather was cloudy, with a large chance of rain. No surprise there.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
By 1:30 pm we were packing.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I like taking a photo of the car to remember where we parked it at the airport. This was at 3 pm.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Decent food, but that was about it.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Getting on a shuttle. Gone are the days when all the planes fit at the terminal itself.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Goodbye Wet-land. We like the entertainment system Icelandair offers.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Some 8 hours later tired kids ended up on the floor at Denver airport while we waited for our luggage. I don’t think any of them slept on the flight!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Augusto kindly met us at the airport, and drove ahead of our rental to guide the way.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 12 July 2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We had decided to lay low that first day. Our first adventure was to take a walk to a nearby playground and creek.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Anna hiding in the shade and coloring a bit. It was REALLY warm!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
US style swings. The plastic doesn’t last in Iceland.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We then checked out the creek, a hop and a skip away from the playground.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"

We drove downtown to buy sandals for the kids. It was way too warm to wear closed shoes! The recommended and very good shoe store had this crazy step area, which the kids went wild on.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
