While we were catching our breaths after the madness that was June, Emma lost her first tooth, we celebrated by visiting the farm animal & family park, I hid at various cafes, the grass got moved, we summer-housed more, and hair got cut, as we mentally prepared ourselves for going on summer vacation for real! (40-ish images) <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sunday 01 July 2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Emma lost her very first tooth. There was some drama involved, but once she calmed down, we dutifully put the tooth in a plastic bag for the tooth fairy to collect the following night.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The weather wasn’t terrible for a change, so I took the kids to the farm animal park for the first time in a long time. We discovered that major renovations were under way on the family park side, as the park was turning 25 years old.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
It looked like the traffic school had gotten new electric cars, so the old ones had been relocated to where the little kids could drive them.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
The weights and sizes of our kids are too mismatched to use this “swing”, but Emma lucked out and got someone to play with.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I decided Emma was big enough to handle the water-balls, so the kids lined up.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

The World Cup board got updated for the knock-out stages.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

I discovered a cafe I visited shortly after it was opened (and found it too ‘harsh’ inside) had cosy-ed itself up considerably, so I began visiting it more often. It’s in upper-Brei\u00f0holt, very close to where I grew up.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"

Thursday 05 July 2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

I realized I’d made a big mistake by putting fertilizer on the grass that spring. It grew so much!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
I also re-learnt that gloves are a good idea when working with newly cut grass! Also a head-net, as the midge flies were out in full force still!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Friday 06 July 2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Not surprisingly, I needed to get “a few things” from Ikea for the summer house. We’d invited some friends along, so Finnur and the kids drove ahead while I shopped.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
My short shopping trip turned into a two hour excursion, which I topped with dinner and desert.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
Fake excitement, as the alternative was extreme tiredness! Yes, the car was completely full of stuff. Again.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n

Saturday 07 July 2018<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

We managed to take our friends and kids to the swimming pool in Borgarnes. Of course we stopped for some post-swim goodness at our favorite cafe<\/a>.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
All cafes should have good books to read.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"
We even picked up an extra friend, who drove up as she had nothing better to do!<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
\"\"

After dinner, the kids went out to play for a few minutes. I never seem to get tired of this view.<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n
