Photos from my journey back to Iceland from the Edmonton-area, via Vancouver.\u00a0 My coworkers and I all split up on arrival in Vancouver, as some had friends to visit, and another had to hurry home a day early.\u00a0 I went shopping, out to dinner, walked about a bit, and then zzzzz…\u00a0 (35 images total)<\/p>\n

Saturday 10 March 2018<\/strong><\/p>\n

At the Edmonton airport. It was a balmy -3C\/27F outside.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

The now familiar view from the airport train to downtown Vancouver.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

My hotel room had a balcony! Yes, I decided to use what would have been taxi money to a cheap hotel to instead book a room in a nice hotel by a train-station downtown, as the train ride is cheap.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The bathroom was pretty spacious.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The view out of the window.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The swimming pool on the roof of the shopping center\/hotel on the other side of the road.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

A letter on the bed to remind guests about the imminent time-change.<\/p><\/div>\n

Somewhat bizarre hotel hallway, and a very boring carpet!<\/p><\/div>\n

The fancy hotel foyer.<\/p><\/div>\n

Next up: finding some place to eat. I won’t deny that these were quite tempting!<\/p><\/div>\n

I somehow ended up in that shopping center across the road from my hotel…<\/p><\/div>\n

Trying to not scowl while taking a selfie to ask if ok.<\/p><\/div>\n

I ended up getting Emma and Bjarki Disney towels.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

I was in need of makeup, and somehow agreed to let a store-lady put some on my eye.<\/p><\/div>\n

An interesting art installation!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

My hotel was on the street to the right.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

After an hour long pit-stop in my room, I went out again, in search of dinner.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Fun times in an elevator!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The daylight fading a bit.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

I trip-advisored myself to a restaurant around the corner, that had a table for one, and a very impressive light-fixture.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

It also had a wine menu that was 30 pages long!!!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

… and here we have… artfully arranged food, that was very good!<\/p><\/div>\n

Dessert! I also got a bag with a baked sweet-bread as I left!?!<\/p><\/div>\n

My plan was to walk to a movie theater and watch a movie, but the movie was sold out. I therefore ambled back to the hotel, spending a long time walking around this art institution.<\/p><\/div>\n

A fancily decorated Gallery Store.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

This structure was on the square on one side of the big building. I couldn’t figure out how you get up there!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The front had even more art from the artist on display.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Charming…?<\/p><\/div>\n

I also took a stroll around the hotel, and found the indoor pool and hot-tub. Then it was off to my room where I watched Doctor Strange on my laptop. A good end to a good day!<\/p><\/div>\n
