[Photos taken on 01 – 24 October 2017, posted 3 June<\/del>\u00a014 June 2018.\u00a0 \u00a0Summer’s nowhere in sight<\/del>.\u00a0 It’s warm-ish out there but the sun keeps hiding behind clouds.\u00a0 Also, we’ve bought a summer house.<\/em>]<\/p>\n

October passed, here are snapshots.\u00a0 Mostly it was just daily life as usual, with trips to the farm animal park, a trampoline park, a swimming pool, a coffee house or two, Ingress the GPS game posted a challenge, autumn came for real, so did the northern lights, and my workplace hosted a party.<\/p>\n

Finnur spent the last week of October was spent in the UK, and the rest of us joined him for a few days over winter school break, which will be covered in a separate post. (75 images total)<\/p>\n

Sunday 01 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emma out in the wet backyard.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

At the airport, waiting for dad to show up after a two-week long trip to Japan and California.<\/p><\/div>\n

We had to wait a little longer than we expected.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Finally!<\/p><\/div>\n

Finnur brought my brand new laptop back from the US.\u00a0 It was half the price compared to the local stores, even when he paid the import VAT on it!! \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n

Tuesday 03 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Picking Emma up from her grandparents’ place at the end of the day.<\/p><\/div>\n

This birthday party invitation made it into the laundry machine, but thankfully only for five minutes before Bjarki notified us of its existence. Phew!<\/p><\/div>\n

Wednesday 04 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

While trying to charge my depleted mental batteries after Finnur’s away-time, I ended up at a cafe in upper Brei\u00f0holt. Happily it has cozy-ed up quite a bit from last time, when it was overwhelmed with bright fluorescent lights.<\/p><\/div>\n

Thursday 05 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Just something to keep in mind. #dailyread<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

During October, Ingress the GPS game, had posted an in-game challenge (for the EXO5 Controller\u00a0medal)<\/a>, and I decided to play along. This brought me here and there.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Not sure what these boys were playing, perhaps Pokemon Go?\u00a0 It was a gorgeous day.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The “secret” lake in Brei\u00f0holt.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Myself by a field of metallic art, including three Ingress portals.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The challenge involved linking GPS locations (portals) to make a certain number of triangles. This was a pretty juicy outing for me.<\/p><\/div>\n

Saturday 07 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

I ventured downtown for a bit of me time. This is Harpa on my way back.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

At 4 pm I dragged the girls out to visit the farm animal park.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The train is always in demand.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Choo-choo!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Next up, the carousel.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

We met people we knew but hadn’t seen for a very long time!<\/p><\/div>\n

Sunday 08 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Bjarki’s mattress was deemed to hard, so to Ikea we went to buy a mattress top. Ended up buying this one which has wool in it. Once we unwrapped it, we found the whole room smelled like sheep!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Emma somehow got me to feed her ice cream.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Bjarki’s English is now good enough for him to read these books.<\/p><\/div>\n

Tuesday 10 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

A book Anna wanted from the library.<\/p><\/div>\n

Northern lights over the house of a friend who hosted the sewing club that night.<\/p><\/div>\n

More bright northern lights, this time over our house.<\/p><\/div>\n

Pretty clouds as I excited work that day.<\/p><\/div>\n

Friday 13 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

That day was a “party” day at work. The different innovation teams all dressed alike.\u00a0 Of course there was a photo booth!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Production also had fun, these guys were making flowers.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Icelandic doughnuts being made.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Mini-golf!<\/p><\/div>\n

Afterwards there were buses downtown, where we hung out at a beer-ish pub, and there was a pub quiz!<\/p><\/div>\n

Anna likes baking and Emma likes helping.<\/p><\/div>\n

Emma, probably watching TV.<\/p><\/div>\n

Giving me a sliver of her attention.<\/p><\/div>\n

Fall colors in full swing outside.<\/p><\/div>\n

I took the kids, plus one friend, to the new indoor trampoline park. Getting photos of everybody proved to be a challenge.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Siblings happy with the icy sludge after jumping around for an hour. Thankfully, nobody broke a bone.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Anna outside the trampoline park building. It’s at the edge of civilization.<\/p><\/div>\n

Later that afternoon we went downtown to visit the city library, and made the customary pit stop at the cafe next door.<\/p><\/div>\n

Bjarki stayed at the table further inside.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Wait, where’s Bjarki?<\/p><\/div>\n

Ah, there he is!<\/p><\/div>\n

It’s (apparently) a teenage ritual to try out different facial masks. Much amusement ensued!<\/p><\/div>\n

Monday 17 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

When we rearranged Bjarki and Emma’s rooms, Emma’s room got a pink wall. Bjarki thus requested a blue wall. That day I stopped by the paint-store, and got three trial colors. Here’s number one and two.<\/p><\/div>\n

 <\/p>\n

That was as far as we got with painting walls.\u00a0 The remainder of the week whizzed by, and then on Saturday 21 October 2017, Finnur departed on a work-trip to London.<\/p>\n

Saturday 21 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finnur took off that day for England. Before he left he had to buy some Icelandic candy (with licorice of course) to share!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

His hotel bed in Liverpool, where he attended a soccer game on the Sunday.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Meanwhile I ended up at the Buddha stupa with the kids for some reason (probably Pokemon?).<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

We also went swimming, which was followed by an ice cream, by popular demand.<\/p><\/div>\n

Sunday 22 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Finnur visited the Everton stadium.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Nice pond in Liverpool.\u00a0 After the game, Finnur to the train to my dad’s where he’d stay for the remainder of the week.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

I probably took the kids to Ikea for dinner… I’m not sure anymore!<\/p><\/div>\n

Monday 23 October 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Yet another Pokemon stupa stop I think, after driving Bjarki to gymnastics. It was pretty cold out there, but we’d neglected to put coats on. Emma made do with mittens!<\/p><\/div>\n
