[Photos taken on 13 May to 14 May 2017, posted online 2 September. \u00a0I’m in denial about having a nasty head-cold. \u00a0\u00a027\u00a0August 2017. \u00a0At a cafe, where a girl is doing her math homework, and her (presumably older?) boyfriend is being impatient and a bit obnoxious but still hanging around, occasionally helping. \u00a0She’s telling him off though so they might make it.<\/del> \u00a0<\/em>]<\/p>\n

Just like three years ago, we attended the family reunion of Finnur’s dad’s foster family<\/a>. \u00a0It was held at the Steig Guesthouse<\/a>, close by the tourist attractions of Reynisfjara<\/a>, and Dyrh\u00f3laey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

We drove there on Saturday, stayed the night at the guesthouse, and then drove back to town the next day, stopping at various places to let the kids out of the car, and, uhm, visit some Ingress locations\/tourist traps.<\/p>\n

Saturday 13 May 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Driving from the mainroad to Steig (visible on the far left), we passed this swan in a luxurious nesting spot.<\/p><\/div>\n

We arrived at the Guesthouse Steig mid-afternoonish. Pretty much as we arrived, a large chunk of the group drove further inland to climb a steep hill, see incline starting on the right.<\/p><\/div>\n

The young ones ran up ahead.<\/p><\/div>\n

The climbers were of all ages!<\/p><\/div>\n

Me and Emma ran into problems climbing over that grass to mud-border further up, as my sneakers lost their grip, and we kept sliding down. It was probably hilarious to watch, but not so fun to do!<\/p><\/div>\n

Ok, at least I was faster than the small toddler!<\/p><\/div>\n

We made it to the top! It was very windy up there, as the hill shielded us climbers from the worst of it.<\/p><\/div>\n

The dog was the first to go down again. See the tiny cars?!?!<\/p><\/div>\n

If only the weather had been nicer… I’m sure the view would have been spectacular. As it was, it was mostly eerie.<\/p><\/div>\n

Going back down again. I had neither the courage, nor the correct lens to capture the awesome and very deadly drop down on one side.<\/p><\/div>\n

Back at Steig. \u00a0Our hosts still maintain a flock of sheep, many of whom were very pregnant.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

A couple of new mothers with the lambs, hidden away from the main flock so they could bond properly, and get a good feeding going.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Emma was a lot more interested in the two rabbits than the sheep and the lambs. Here she is feeding them hay.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

At dinner time, we all gathered in the new dining room to eat dinner together.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The old dining room was among the bedrooms, and was rather cramped. This new room is in a different building and is very nice!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Dinner! The food was excellent!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

This was the evening of the Eurovision Song Contest finals<\/a>. Thus the TV got turned on!<\/p><\/div>\n

After dinner, I took Emma out to the other house, where she wanted to play in “her” playroom. Then it was bedtime, after which I was too tired to rejoin the group on the other side. I think all the others had a grand time though!<\/p><\/div>\n

Sunday 14 May 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

The next day, we drove to a nearby church.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

After a while, and a bit of singing, we all went out and looked for ancestors in the cemetery.<\/p><\/div>\n

I was unclear whether these were unmarked or unused graves.<\/p><\/div>\n

We had a great time, and look forward to coming back in three years.<\/p>\n
