In opposition to all the social research which indicates that looking forward to trips for a long time is good for the soul, we sprung Anna’s confirmation trip to Paris on her, giving her less than a week to anticipate it!<\/p>\n

Mostly this was because we had the hardest time deciding what to give her that she would like, especially since mostly she wanted a horse! But, as it was becoming apparent that we would not be visiting Paris during our upcoming trip to France this summer, Anna was sad, so to Paris she got sent!<\/p>\n

Now, as Finnur and Anna were going to be away, I decided to utilize our designated weekend at the Laugarvatn summer house, but worried about Bjarki and Emma arguing nonstop. \u00a0Therefore I borrowed two kids as playmates, the middle kid of my oldest brother, and the son of my brother P\u00e9tur, who also tagged along, but avoided the camera somehow! Friday 28 April 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anna and Finnur stopped by my workplace to hand over some misplaced car keys.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

As they drove to the airport, the weather worsened, with rainy snow coming down.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Time to board the plane!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Sludge on the tarmac.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

That evening, my brother and I drove eastwards, in the snow. It was not the nicest drive ever.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

White stuff everywhere.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The view at 10 pm, at least the days were starting to get longer!<\/p><\/div>\n

Landing in Paris, which apparently involves passing over a highway!<\/p><\/div>\n

Saturday 29 April 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

The most popular activity is to light a fire. (As in: “Mom, can we light a fire now? Moooom, can we light a fire noooow?” ad infinitum.) \ud83d\ude42<\/p><\/div>\n

I had planned to put the trampoline up, but the ground was soaking wet, so I had to cancel those plans.<\/p><\/div>\n

Not too shabby, but admittedly no Bearnaise sauce (Finnur’s specialty)…<\/p><\/div>\n

We managed to get the kids to leave the house for a bit as we packed up and cleaned the house.<\/p><\/div>\n

Enjoying the swings at Finnur’s parent’s house. Poor parentless I\u00f0unn was getting pretty homesick by that point though.<\/p><\/div>\n

Nope, there’s nobody home. We did walk down to the (terrifying) river down below the house though.<\/p><\/div>\n

Monday 01 May 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Anna and Finnur discovered that a lot of France shuts down for 1 May. It put a damper on the day, as Anna had planned to do a bit of shopping.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Ice-cream always helps with perking up the soul! \u00a0Incidentally, scroll down this page, to find a younger Anna holding an almost identical ice cream in Lyon in 2014<\/a>!<\/p><\/div>\n
