The week after Easter Sunday was in large part spent preparing for the big (80 person) confirmation party we were about to host the following Sunday.<\/p>\n

We tried to keep things fairly laid back, but there was a test-hairdo appointment, old photos to sort through and get printed, finalizing decorations, finalizing food matters, hiring a helper, sorting out flowers, actually setting up the room, etc., etc…<\/p>\n

I’m pretty sure we spent more time organizing this party than we did organizing our own wedding! \u00a0But it was (mostly) fun, and nobody quite freaked out. (25 images total)<\/p>\n

Monday 17 April 2017
\n(Second Day of Easter = Public Holiday)<\/strong><\/p>\n

That Monday I took off to a new cafe in Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur to finish picking out old photos of Anna. \u00a0I think that’s Bjarki sliding down a hill on the screen though!<\/p><\/div>\n

Tuesday 18 April 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Time for a test-hairdo. Anna had picked out a style she wanted, and the hairdresser made a practice run of actually implementing it.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Why is curly hair always so pretty? We left with a plan in place, and an appointment the following Sunday.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Next up: Fetching Emma from daycare.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

That evening I went out on a short walk in the rain drizzle. Here’s the view from our Buddha at 10 pm.<\/p><\/div>\n

There’s not a lot of vegetation around the newly built road yet. I hope they fix that.<\/p><\/div>\n

Thursday 20 April 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

Emma really likes to paint!<\/p><\/div>\n

This was the First Day of Summer, and of course it snowed! \u00a0It was also a public holiday.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

I took Bjarki shoe shopping, as he’d outgrown his shoes. New size = 37.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

He almost died of boredom in the process, but mostly because I insisted on exchanging the regular shoelaces out for elastic ones, right there in the store.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Then I took Anna on yet another quest to find serviettes that matched the table runner color we’d decided on, as well as a photo-backdrop cloth to take full-length (head to toe) photos.<\/p><\/div>\n

Finnur then filled our new BBQ to capacity with wings!<\/p><\/div>\n

Friday 21 April 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

That day we finally finalized Anna’s confirmation present: a weekend trip to Paris with her dad to see the Eiffel tower in person, which was something she’d expressed an interest in doing.<\/p><\/div>\n

Saturday 22 April 2017<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a>

I went for a walk up the hill. Here are two columns by the new road, probably meant for a future pedestrian bridge.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

The clouds looked little bit ominous…<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Anna had to go to a rehearsal for the ceremony, and meanwhile I hunted down a few Ingress portals close to the venue. Anybody know where this is taken?<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Anna and I had more errands to run, but stopped at an old cafe to refuel. \u00a0I’ve known about this place for a long time, but have never entered. It turned out to be so old that the toilet paper dispenser had an ashtray on top of it! We decided the cafe wasn’t really worth visiting again though.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Later that afternoon we went to set up the party room, which was on the first floor in the apartment block where my grandmother, Hrefna, lives. Getting a room to host confirmation parties is very hard to do, as they are booked 1-2 years in advance, so we were very lucky to have access to this one.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

We managed to squeeze in 78 seats, but only just barely. It would have to do!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

Anna herself arranged and hung all the photos herself!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"\"<\/a>

That evening, my sister-in-law, J\u00f3hanna, celebrated her 30th birthday with a karaoke party! I discovered I suck at singing, but gained a newfound respect for bubbly singers, who make sounding sultry look easy!<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
