September is always a tricky month. \u00a0It means finding a new rhythm as school and after-school schedules get locked into place. \u00a0We tried to use the nice-ish weather to be outside, and go here and there, we also hosted people for dinner, and I took a lot of photos at an event or two, tried a new meeting place at work, and etc. etc… (29 images total)<\/p>\n

We’d managed to invite Elsa and \u00der\u00e1inn over for dinner, during one of \u00der\u00e1inn’s stops in the home country.<\/p><\/div>\n

“I don’t love fish soup!” Our Emma is going through a phase of not wanting to try “new” foods. Oh the joy!<\/p><\/div>\n

Monday 5 September 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

I went out for a late-afternoon light-jog\/walk before dinner. I found autumn colors, and Google auto-enhanced the experience.<\/p><\/div>\n

Up by the Buddha stupa. Walking up there is a nice warm-up, and the view always makes me happy.<\/p><\/div>\n

That’s as far as I went before turning back.<\/p><\/div>\n

That’s Bjarki up there! And to think a couple of years ago he was all dejected because he couldn’t climb up the rope. Practice matters!<\/p><\/div>\n

I hope Anna forgives me for sharing these snaps she sent me. The kids were using a microscope at school, and wanted to record what they saw, so Anna\u00a0grabbed her school-issued iPad, and shot…<\/p><\/div>\n

Emma’s daycare closed down at noon, but we couldn’t get babysitting (from Finnur’s parents) until a little after noon. I used the opportunity to take her to the mall, to hunt for some winter boots. First, a small refueling session!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"I<\/a>

I always check out the selection in one particular clothing store, next to this plane. This time there was also a long line of people there, to pick up ticket’s to the Justin Bieber show going on that night. \u00a0We didn’t go.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Bjarki's<\/a>

Bjarki’s now straddling the kid-adult line in shoes. He still (barely) fits into 35, but that’s the end of the line in most kid shoes. Future bummer!<\/p><\/div>\n

Saturday 10 September 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Adda<\/a>

Adda asked me to photograph the 2×70 year old (!!!)<\/strong>\u00a0birthday party of her parents’, and of course I said yes!<\/p><\/div>\n

It was a grand party, and I took A LOT of photos, they can be found HERE<\/a>. Google assembled this collage automatically, and who argues with a computer?<\/p><\/div>\n

Sunday 11 September 2016<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"Finnur's<\/a>

Finnur’s oldest sister, Eyr\u00fan, is now a grandmother! Her grandchild was named that day, Hallger\u00f0ur Katr\u00edn, and I plan on making<\/del>\u00a0there is now a separate post for that occasion<\/a>. (Until then, consider this a placeholder for a link to images from the naming party<\/a>!)<\/p><\/div>\n

After the party, I apparently ended up with Bjarki at the mall, probably trying to buy winter shoes for him. He ended up getting bribed with a smoothie in exchange for working on his homework!<\/p><\/div>\n

It was decided to hold an all-hands-on-deck meeting at work to brainstorm about future stuff. To cut down on interruptions, we moved to a meeting room Marel owns down by the docks of Reykjavik. It was a nice change of scenery.<\/p><\/div>\n

The guys in my extended group. Yup, no women except me, myself, and I. But they’re all great, so I don’t complain!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Anna<\/a>

Anna generally doesn’t carry a phone on her, but she’s glued to her iPad. Thus, messages like “don’t forget piano!” get sent via snapchat, and hangout. Brave new world!<\/p><\/div>\n
