Bjarki turned 9 years old today! \u00a0Click here if you want to read up on the day of his and Reynir’s birth<\/a>, also known as the\u00a0best of times, and the worst of times.<\/p>\n

But, Bjarki keeps thriving, and he was pretty excited to open his presents this morning. \u00a0He then spent the day at a camp (n\u00e1mskei\u00f0) with the local scout group, before coming home in the afternoon, and spending pretty much the rest of the day on some computer or other. \u00a0It was his birthday after all!<\/p>\n

With Finnur slowly making his way back from Nice, France, via Vienna (!), and not expected to arrive until right now (30 minutes past midnight, technically on 29 June) I invited Adda, Halli, and their kids over for some hamburgers, ice cream, and muffins. \u00a0Bjarki even got to blow out a candle!<\/p>\n

Formal family celebrations will have to wait a bit, probably until next week, while Finnur recovers from his football adventure in France<\/a>, and until the weather forecast gets its act together.<\/p>\n

His presents were waiting downstairs in the morning. He got a couple of books, one on origami folding, and the other on folding airplanes.<\/p><\/div>\n

He also got the Inside Out (emotions) set for the Disney Infinity Playstation thingamajig, which yes, has been discontinued. Oh well. In addition to all this, he also got the new Lego Star Wars The Force Awakens game which was released on PS4 on his birthday!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Meanwhile,<\/a>

Meanwhile, Finnur hung out in Vienna! He had left for France on Saturday, and just arrived now (technically a Wednesday).<\/p><\/div>\n

\"I,<\/a>

I, on the other hand, ventured out on a “jog” for the second day in a row during lunch time<\/a>. I’m trying to adopt the “use it or lose it” mentality towards my ankle. So far, so good.<\/p><\/div>\n

The lava field next to where I work is pretty darn cool. \u00a0This photo comes nowhere near to doing it justice.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"We<\/a>

We had hamburgers for dinner! They’re one of Bjarki’s more frequent dinner requests, and this time we tried serving it with salsa (another favorite of his). It came out surprisingly well!<\/p><\/div>\n

I manged to make muffins before dinner, and then went to the ice cream shop after dinner, as per Adda’s excellent suggestion. Bjarki spent the entire “happy birthday song” inhaling so he could blow out his candle. And he did!<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
