My last Finnur-less day, for the time being, was packed to the gills, with Bjarki’s year-end big gymnastics show starting at 1 pm, then driving the kiddos to their respective babysitters, before joining my\u00a020 year Junior College (MR) reunion, which had events beginning at 2 pm and lasting long into the evening.<\/p>\n

And of course Emma starting the day by falling ill with a spring cold.<\/p>\n

Being a third child, I took her temperature at noon (38.5 C\/ 101.3 F), gave her fever-reducing medication, dragged her to see Bjarki’s show (It. Was. Amazing!), dropped Bjarki off at Steinunn’s, and Emma off at her grandparents’, and then reunioned until about 9 pm, at which point drove back to pick\u00a0Emma up, and took her home. \u00a0(Phew!)<\/p>\n

\"Bjarki,<\/a>

Bjarki, with the pineapple who wanted to be a dictator\/king, and was thwarted by the other fruits in the fruit bowl (aka \u00c1vaxtakarfan<\/a>).<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

\"Back<\/a>

Back to the beginning. This is us arriving at the gymnastics-hall.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Emma<\/a>

Emma was pretty ambivalent about the whole thing, and wanted to leave before it had even begun.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"I've<\/a>

I’ve been going to the year-end show for a few years now, and this was the best one so far. It helped that for the first time ever there was a live band, and a school choir! \u00a0I also discover every year that I’ve forgotten to image the sides of the room, where gymnasts do cool stuff on various apparatus, during the show.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"They<\/a>

They always do a remarkably good job of weaving the performances into the story (or the story around the performances?) This, the bananas, was the only group with a grown-up trainer out in front. Breaking with previous years, the other youngsters had slightly older youngsters directing them. Impressive!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Bjarki's<\/a>

Bjarki’s group, aka the pineapples. He was in the back row, between the two full yellow lights. See also a video clip below for the full routine. \u00a0They had no one directing them, so the timing was a bit willy-nilly, but they still had the funniest routine of the day.<\/p><\/div>\n
