[Photos from Easter Sunday 27 March 2016, posted online 31 March 2016. \u00a0We just finished all the chocolate.<\/em>]<\/p>\n

Easter Sunday began unusually calmly, as the smaller two kids seemed happy to hang out in computer-land for most of the morning, or until the resident teenager woke up around 10 am. \u00a0The kids then hid our eggs, we hid their eggs, and chocolate bunnies, and then we all overdosed on chocolate.<\/p>\n

Around lunchtime we went to Finnur’s parents’ place to eat good food, enjoy good company, and play social whist. \u00a0Bjarki participated in the whist for the first time, and handled it well, although he joined his grandparents near the bottom of the final score pile. \u00a0Finnur was victorious though, just like last Easter!<\/p>\n

All the Icelandic eggs have sayings in them, a la Chinese fortune cookies. Finnur’s was “Bilindur er b\u00f3klaus ma\u00f0ur”, or “Blind is a man with no books.”<\/p><\/div>\n

Anna got: “Steinn pr\u00f3far gull en gull menn”or “Rock tests gold but gold test men”.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Bjarki<\/a>

Bjarki got: “H\u00e1lfna\u00f0 er verk \u00fe\u00e1 hafi\u00f0 er” or “A job is half done once started”.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Emma<\/a>

Emma got “K\u00f3lnar heitt ef k\u00f6ldu er \u00e1 bl\u00e1si\u00f0” or “Hot stuff cools if cold is blown on it”.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"I<\/a>

I got “Lengi b\u00fdr a\u00f0 fyrstu ger\u00f0” or “The groundwork has lasting effects”.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"All<\/a>

All the candy (and %#$” plastic wrappers) inside the egg make for quite a pile!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Good<\/a>

Good times!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"We<\/a>

We then made our way to Finnur’s parents’ home.<\/p><\/div>\n

Finnur’s dad was in charge of the cooking as usual.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Since<\/a>

Since we were unusually short on people (two families missing) three of the younger kids were roped into playing. Here two of them are in training.<\/p><\/div>\n

Bjarki and some Easter lilies.<\/p><\/div>\n

Grandma arrives bearing gifts for the grandkids!<\/p><\/div>\n

Eating time! \u00a0The food was excellent as always.<\/p><\/div>\n

USA-born plastic Easter eggs with candy, ready to be distributed around the living room.<\/p><\/div>\n

The hunt went by in a flash! Bjarki scored the biggest haul by far!<\/p><\/div>\n
