[Photos from Tuesday 22 March 2016, posted online 23 March 2016. \u00a0It’s hard to sulk with all this spring in the air.<\/em>]<\/p>\n

The day started out with terrible\u00a0news from Brussels<\/a>, so spirits weren’t exactly running high when I showed up at the hospital after lunch. \u00a0The aim was to finally get a screw removed so that I could begin to put full weight on my foot, and begin to get rid of my crutches. Yes it’s been 10 weeks since my breakage!<\/p>\n

But no, the doctor decided not to remove the screw. \u00a0Perhaps it’ll go next week, or the week thereafter, I’ll have to wait and see. I will readily admit that I’m disappointed, and wallowing in self-pity a little bit. \u00a0Hopefully it’ll pass soon.<\/p>\n

The culprit was the shrinking-but-not-fully-healed hole\/dip in the big scar<\/a>\u00a0(photo is from the England post<\/a>), formed by a large chunk of clotted blood which got lodged there somehow. \u00a0Apparently doctors don’t like cutting into legs that have open wounds still (it’s open enough to discharge liquid if squeezed). \u00a0So, the hole got cleaned, bandaged, and I have strict instructions to leave it be. \u00a0No scratching or whatnots. \u00a0Sigh.<\/p>\n

Feeling a little lost, and not quite up to going back to work with my metaphorical tail between my legs, I got Finnur to pick me up, and spent the rest of the afternoon working in his office. \u00a0It was a nice change, although apparently I disturb Finnur’s otherwise very peaceful office-existence! \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Bjarki went to spend quality time with his grandparents, and he’ll spend the next few days at the summer house with them. \u00a0I hope they have a lovely time! (7 images total)<\/p>\n

The happiest photo of the day: Bjarki with his grandma filling up plastic eggs for the Easter egg hunt this coming Sunday. These are the eggs we brought back from the US after numerous fun Easter egg hunts there.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

\"Waiting<\/a>

Waiting to be called in at the hospital. The most important part about this photo is that I bought myself new shoes online for the first time (!), and had them shipped to Iceland (!!). With all the fees they cost pretty much exactly what I’d pay for shoes at a store in Iceland, but I knew these would fit, and they’re not for men! (I have very large feet!)<\/p><\/div>\n

That’s about as far as I got into the screw-removal business. The nurse cleaned me up with iodine, then called the doctor, and the doctor said no.<\/p><\/div>\n

So I camped out in Finnur’s office, who remarked that having me visit was a total pain. Not only did I make him open the window to let some air in, but he was also forced to clean! (He tells me that’s many-weeks-worth of bottles. Aha.)<\/p><\/div>\n

The view out his window. That orange search-and-rescue chopper turned on and made a lot of noise for a good bit of time, but stayed put otherwise.<\/p><\/div>\n
