The first weeks of December saw lots of yuletide going-ons at my workplace. \u00a0Older employees took this in stride, but for someone who last worked at a place where there was no such thing (just a lot of exhaustion and exam-time jitters), this was extremely novel and nice. \"Tuesday<\/a>

Tuesday 02 Dec<\/strong>: It’s customary to bring a cake if it’s your birthday, and as it happened a birthday collided with an ex-coworker also stopping by with a cake, which gave us this fantastic opportunity to recreated the famous Titanic scene. Yeah.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

\"Thursday<\/a>

Thursday 04 Dec<\/strong> saw the first real snow for a whole month. \u00a0November was unseasonably warm.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Winter<\/a>

Winter Wonderland at last! \u00a0And then the snow decided to stick around for over two more months. Yeah, it’s pretty much still here. Grumbles!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Inside,<\/a>

Inside, preparations were in full swing for the annual Yuletide buffet.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Friday<\/a>

Friday 05 Dec<\/strong> was the day of the Yuletide buffet itself. Here’s the drink selection.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Meanwhile,<\/a>

Meanwhile, just before lunch started, I drove to watch Bjarki’s class perform a short yuletide play based around the 13 yule-lads, and sing a couple of songs. \u00a0It was charming!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Siblings.<\/a>

Siblings. It’s very convenient that it takes me five minutes to drive between my work and their school.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Back<\/a>

Back at work, I found the table my group was sitting at, and then we waited a good long while until it was our turn to get to pick up some food. I think we were the third to last table to get the green light!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"The<\/a>

The main course was served from inside the cafeteria itself. It was pretty crowded but the food was excellent!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"After<\/a>

After the party, the company Christmas present was handed out: a gift card to our local mall, along with a discount coupon. Awww… !<\/p><\/div>\n

\"On<\/a>

On Saturday 13 Dec<\/strong> there was a Yuletide-ball for the kids. Three santas showed up!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"We<\/a>

We walked in circles around a decorated tree-simile, and sang songs. The most misogynist of them got a fun twist from the singer which made is slightly less painful.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Anna<\/a>

Anna very busy not smiling.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"The<\/a>

The santas doing a bit of fun stuff. Santas have a tough job!<\/p><\/div>\n

After the singing, we all got cake and ice cream and juice and retreated to our own office area because the cafeteria had run out of chairs. \u00a0It was nice!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
