One of the girls (ok, women, I guess we’re all well over thirty!) in a sewing club I belong to has access to a lovely\u00a0summer house not too far away from the capital area.<\/p>\n

Over the past few years, we’ve all tried to gather there for an overnight stay, at least once per year. \u00a0We call it a ‘housewife vacation’ since we all have 2 or 3 children, and really, taking a break from them can be a very good thing!<\/p>\n

This time six out of eight could make it. \u00a0Some arrived late on the Friday evening, but I hitched a ride on the Saturday, and we met up with the gang at the Fontana Geothermal Baths<\/a> at Laugarvatn. (19 images total)<\/p>\n

Fontana is basically a glorified collection of hot tubs, but their main attraction are steam rooms that sit right on top of a natural steam vent, with the sulfuric smell to prove it. \u00a0The entrance fee is exorbitant for what’s on offer, but it’s fairly easy to get a two-for-one entry if you belong to this or that club, which makes it slightly easier to swallow.<\/p>\n

Chatting, chatting. We don’t sew any clothes in this sewing club, just conversations.<\/p><\/div>\n

The evening was spent chatting away.<\/p><\/div>\n

After we crawled out of bed sometime late the morning after (Sunday), we made a scrumptious breakfast.<\/p><\/div>\n
