The football season is well and truly under way in the UK, so it was high time to go do something FFF-fabulous!<\/p>\n

A friend had mentioned an art gallery, Hafnarborg<\/a>, in the neighboring town of Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur<\/a> (Harbor-fjord), so I called up Adda (my resident Hafnarfj\u00f6r\u00f0ur local expert) and badgered her into coming with me. \u00a0I didn’t want to get lost! \u00a0(I’m joking!!)<\/p>\n

So, to Hafnarborg we went, where the works of a few contemporary Icelandic artists<\/a> were on display. (23 images total)<\/p>\n

\"The<\/a>

The art gallery lives in this big building, and so does a branch of the\u00a0restaurant chain\u00a0Gl\u00f3<\/a> (Glow). The building incorporates another older building (a pharmacy) which was gifted to the museum.<\/p><\/div><\/p>\n

\"There<\/a>

There was no entrance fee, so we went straight into exhibition hall number one.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Adda<\/a>

Adda walking past a work I think is called The River. \u00a0On the wall were lots of dark images of a river, and the whole thing was sort of river-like on the wall. Kinda neat as a whole, but the individual images weren’t terribly interesting.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Adda<\/a>

Adda is a big fan of the building itself, which she’s visited many times. She showed me into this meeting-room where you can see the old pharmacy windows from the original building.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Art<\/a>

Not terribly exciting art in unusual places.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Photos<\/a>

Photos are funny things. That earth photo looks great on this ‘about the show’ card, but much less thrilling hanging up on a wall in a frame.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Time<\/a>

Time to go upstairs.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Looking<\/a>

Looking down over the foyer and gift shop.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Walking<\/a>

Walking among what were probably our favorites pieces. No, not the hose on the floor, I mean the photos!<\/p><\/div>\n

\"It's<\/a>

It’s hard to take video art seriously, especially when it’s a long recording of someone slowly videoing things in their home. Like corners.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"The<\/a>

The circle of life? With a power source? I dunno. It was a long hose, looped around itself, with water powered through it by a pump, which seemed to add oxygen so the water was whiter on that side…<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Adda<\/a>

Adda is a great art-skeptic. I think I’m going to be dragging her to more art shows, she’s a hoot to have around! \u00a0Also, note the small windows on the arched wall. \u00a0That’s the back-end of the old pharmacy house.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Literally<\/a>

Literally “The Most Expensive Color”. This whole canvas is covered by the most expensive oil color you can buy in Iceland, at roughly $130 per tube. Make of that what you will. There’s no info on how many tubes you need to cover the canvas though.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"A<\/a>

A joyful Hrefna at the reawakening of the FFF!! Also, standing by a series of photos from somebody’s home. Yay.<\/p><\/div>\n

\"Sketches<\/a>

Sketches galore. They look better in this photo than in real life when you can see the pencil-work.<\/p><\/div>\n

The other part of downstairs houses the restaurant Gl\u00f3 (Glow).<\/p><\/div>\n
